How does everyone deal with the challenges of MS
HI my name is Wyatt : How does everyone... - My MSAA Community
HI my name is Wyatt
It depends on what the challenge is.
I often need help with walking so I use my husband's hand, a wall, a cane, rollator or wheelchair to get around, whatever will enable me to go where I need to go.
Exercise along with diet is important as I feel better when I do these things.
I don't have intense pain as others do but when I do have pain, I use frankincense oil to help.
Numbness and dexterity in my hands is an issue so I try to do exercises to help with that.
Last but not least, prayer helps me more than b!tch!ng but I do indulge in that
on occasion.
I'll have to agree with Falalalala. I'm lucky enough to be on Disability now, so "dealing" mostly involves taking as much time as I need to do things or just putting them off for another day. I have no time constraints beyond the dog insisting that I go to bed at 10 pm.
Hi, Wyatt! Falalalala has some terrific suggestions. Plus, I had to dig deep and find some resilience. I remind myself regularly that things could be much worse! (I know of someone battling a brain tumor and someone else battling leukemia).
Isaiah 41:10 helps with challenges too. It is my go-to verse when I feel a pity party coming on. So glad you are here!
I agree with all of the above, I find living and enjoying each day as it comes as no one is promised a tomorrow. So enjoy today, find something no matter how small to smile about.
I fought, and still fight everyday. I went from "comatose" due to M.S.., A cane to push me around and keep from falling down. To healthy eating and now no meds, walking 10K steps a day. Am I cured, hah! No I still live with at least 100 on the list of ? my neuro's have you check off on check in, BUT, life is good with a free bathroom GPS, .... And I have learned to cook! Healthy! Michelin Star, no, but it's my life. Internet look ups on what to make next. My must do, nothing processed. Reference the Wahls doctor with M.S. who did research on food and M.S.... My neurologist plural , the best I could find in the big city area, at any cost, have after years of everything they could think of, all the DMT's, have recognized I have moved on to the living with the aftermath of M.S.., something most people don't. Well, I still have those 101 things, but I'm learning how to live again. And I can push a shopping cart down the isles of all the food and produce markets like a champ, looking for healthy veg's, fish, seafood, meats...on sale, as well as a powered lawn mower...
Most people don't recognize I'm in any way M.S. battle wounded. Look into the healthy eating thing, Whal's M.S.... Then you will enjoy life, like now, the colors of fall. Even though I need to do another 10K steps mower sweeping up leaves. 6 lawn bags full last week. Looks like another 6 this!
I have nothing to add, but welcome!
wwelcome
welcome to a wonderful group. i had to learn what part of pain i accept and what part i dont stand for. recently i started putting lanocain patches all over the places that felt like painful swelling and the lower screwed discs.Mentally pain takes its toll so coloring arts, music my furbabies but stretching helps me. each person is so different. im unsure about CBD products because of my heart. best wishes....lots of pillows.
yes they all have covered life living with MS ..but you do go on and live it ...we still can do what needs to be done but some things are done maybe in a different way but can do ...love and happiness and welcome to this great bunch of people that are great at helping in any way they can ...men and women all ages ..some new to MS and others that have had for many years ,so there is nothing that can't be asked ,just have to ask ...take care and know we all are in this journey together ....love and happiness ...lots of jokes and pictures of family or animals...so enjoy life with all of us...
Wyatt70, The most serious problem that I am facing due to the MS the challenge of it effecting my ability to drive. I have a problem with the gas and brake. This is something that I never thought I would ever face. I was told about the importance of exercise daily, and have found the advice is very true. I have to keep my muscles working as best I can by doing rehabilitation exercises on my own.
