Had my first appt post surgery which was 3 weeks ago. First time seeing the scar had new X-rays dr showed how nicely aligned my ankle is now. Only took a plate and 7 SCREWS. Love this Dr I see him again in two weeks he gave me PT orders told me to have my first appt scheduled for the day after I see him he said your not going to get stiff on me, got to get you moving. Non weight bearing for 8 more weeks. Can’t tell you how much this wheelchair has saved me. Stay strong my friends get out and walk I love fall my favorite season. Peace ☮️

Glad to hear your surgery went well! 7 screws, wow. Keep moving and doing your therapy.

Do you keep the plate and screws in permanently or after time will they remove them. ?

Hopefully you will be able to weight bear for Christmas, enjoy PT. 🤗

hey CC, glad you’re doing better. I never realized how important ankles are before! Are you still doing the kitchen renovations?

You'll be fine. The break and repair match mine done in 2018. It's a long recovery (my surgeon said about 2 years), but PT, grit, and determination create a functional ankle. The scars on both sides of my ankle aren't pretty (but who cares?) and took a long time to heal, but I am still fully mobile: walking, gardening, doing what needs to be done.

Hey there NanaCC.. I too have a plate and screws and a twist of metal goin up the small bone of my lower leg.. Do the PT! It is essential.. I know it will be hard to keep any weight off that leg.. but ya gotta.. it will screw every thing up if y ou don't..

Best wishes for a full recovery ....!!!! 👍👍🥰🥰

thank u for that I will do PT anything they tell me MS is bad enough it’s what caused me to fall. Wheelchair has been a blessing but I hate it I resisted even getting one to me it’s like waving the white flag to MS saying you win. For that I am so motivated to be able to put it in the attic as soon as I can.

He's right about keeping it moving. When I broke my upper arm I was afraid to move it after the dr. said it was okay to. I ended up with frozen shoulder and they had to do a surgery to remove scar tissue! So wiggle it as they instruct!
