I would speak to your PCP or neuro regarding the results, but I don't think you should be rethinking getting vaccinated based on those results alone
Yes, people on antiCD20 have had this issue with infection/vaccination, and some people have changed medications because of this. There’s a way to get vaccinated, and Gavin Giovanonni has explained in a few blog posts why we have the problem and what the CD19 level needs to be before the jab. I made zero antibodies after my vaccine (while on Kesimpta and during the ideal window for vaccination) which he thought was unacceptable and I agree, but my practitioners were quite happy with checking the box that I had been vaccinated and patted my head with mumbles about Tcells. Thankfully I did well with omicron so I don’t care anymore, but I don’t expect antibodies since I got infected barely 3mo after my Ocrveus infusion, which I now intend to stay on.
I am in the same spot as you, kdali , and let me add that we are basically vaccinated but not protected. I am to see a new neurologist tomorrow and will discuss this with them.
Re-checking B cells again today 15 mos. X last O infusion. Still no B cells at 12 mos. post infusion back in November. Fully vax. And boosted Moderna. 🤞T cells give the protection they pat our heads for.
They questioned whether I had another immune system problem, sent me to a specialist, all other labs ok, nope, just the Ocrevus still crushing those Bs
It does seem to last a long time, my count is always 0.0 when I get my pre Ocrevus labs.
I have not been tested for antibodies. I guess I could have asked to be tested earlier this month when I had my other labs done. It would be interesting to see if there were any being a month after getting Covid. I plan on getting a booster in May even though my CD count will be nil depending on what recommendations are at that time.
Some time ago, I read that there may be some immunity conferred by the vaccine even though the antibody test is negative. In your case, if you've had COVID twice, perhaps the fact that you obviously haven't died suggests this may be accurate. It may be hard to see this as good news, but in the face of so many deaths, even a little good news is welcome. I'm pleased you are a survivor.
My last Ocrevus infusion was 10/29/2020. I got Covid on 8/20/2021. The symptoms weren't bad but I did check off about 10 that were listed on the Covid website. I did get bronchitis after Covid that was worse than the Covid. For the past 2 weeks I've been taking care of my 83 yr old mother n law that had Covid for the 2 time in 14 months. I didn't get Covid from her & she had the omecron version. It seems like antibodies weaken after a year but not completely disappear as she had a very mild case of it. As for me 10 months after my last dose of Ocrevus I believe I had some TCells since I didn't get very sick with the Delta version. I also had enough antibodies to fight off the Omecron version. I sat in the ER waiting room full of sick people for 3 hrs, that probably had it as they all seemed to have the same symptoms, then spent 2 weeks around someone that had it. I haven't been tested for antibodies & see no need too. I'm just going to keep my hands washed & keep my distance. I'm not a fan of the type of vaccine they are using for Covid - using our MRNA to train cells to recognize & destroy only the Covid cells instead of the old way (like the flu vaccines) that build antibodies in our system. I'm thinking we can potty train a 2 yr old faster than the Covid vaccine can train those cells.🤔
