Were you given wean off steriods after infusions?

Hello everyone. Today i completed 5 day infusion of steriods. Still feeling badly. I thought it was protocol that i will be prescribed at home steroids for wean off process but the ms specialists nurse explained to my husband that they do not do that for ms pateints. Made me nervous..did you have a wean off after the iv steriods? I feel so badly rt now and unable to do anything. Thank you

Yes, my neurologist would give me oral prednisone to ween off made it a lot easier. It’s been a while maybe they quit? 🙏😉🐾🐾

I had oral steroids after the iv steroids. Hope you feel better soon

I only received the IV doses no oral treatment and sis well after a few days🙏🏾

I only got steroids once back in 2014 and did not get oral weaning after. I only got a 3 day infusion though. Unfortunately, it didn't improve my symptoms. My neuro did say they help more with motor symptoms and at the time mine were mostly sensory.

After a five day infusion treatment I was not offered oral steroids (or any explanation of either the infusion or the use of steroids).

Yes, my Neuros in the past have prescribed oral prednisone to taper off the high dose of iv steroids. It has been many years since I have had to have them so things may have changed? Not sure.

No oral steroids after IV steroid infusion here. My MS doctor says not to taper because the (IV or oral) steroids need to “shock” your body into stopping the inflammatory response 🤷‍♀️ He has never prescribed a taper for me. I’m ok with that because oral steroids make me want to crawl out of my skin. Hope you’re doing better ❤️

Nope. I never had any of the pills after the 5 days of iv steroids and was fine.

I recall that I slowly built up with oral meds to the corticosteroids infusions that I would get prior to my Lemtrada infusions and then slowly weaned off with oral meds.

I had iv steroids 3 times and didn't have a taper but I once got a steroid shot from my primary care doctor and I had a taper go figure

I never had oral taper steroids after infusions.

Give yourself some time. I was told the steroids can help immediately, but that it can also take a few months for some symptoms to really improve.
