3 New COVID-19 Treatments Now Available to MS Patients in UK
I just got my notifications from the NHS saying they were sending me a pcr test kit out and I was eligible for the new treatment. ๐
Thanks for the link.
Husband tested positive earlier today.
I called my PC and she called in an order for monoclonal antibodies for me, said I don't even need to get tested due to close contact, ms and ocrevus.
Husbands PC never got back to us and when his O2 got down to 92 he went to the ER. They sent him home, said if he waits until tomorrow he can get a "better treatment" then they can give him tonight. I assume this means Vir - (sotrovimab) which works for all 3 variants will be available tomorrow. He's pretty sick.
I had covid back in April and received bamlanivimab, which from what I understand does not work against omicron. I doubt we will be able to find out which variant he has... so hopefully he is given sotrovimab tomorrow. We are in the US.
ER said to come back if his O2 goes below 90. Just checked and it is at 90! It will be a long night...
Good luck with getting sotrovimab for your husband. You will be interested in the following article.

Thank you, certainly not very encouraging is it. Seems like the ball was dropped yet again, there has not been enough effort spent on treatments, although omicron has really caused havoc with the monoclonal treatments...
Husband was double vaccinated with booster scheduled in 6 daysโน๏ธ Wish I knew if they were testing to see which variant he has. As supply is so limited you might thing they would? I wrote out a list of questions for him but as I couldn't go in with him, I don't know if he's even asked any... and isn't being at all communitive...
Do you know how often or what the criteria is to test to determine which variant a patient is infected with? Thanks.
Oh, oxygen is still hovering at 90
Oxygen levels stayed at 90 during the night.
Unfortunately he will be getting regeneron (cairivimab and imdevimab) this afternoon.
Was told that even though they have strovimab they have to follow guidelines that say to still use regeneron, as strovimab is in such limited supply (who are they saving it for??) He also admitted if husband has omicron, regeneron will not be helpful!! So I guess our hope is that he has the delta variant
Unfortunately, that is what I expected. Keep us posted on his progress. Are you receiving any post-exposure treatment?
I have an appt for tomorrow afternoon. Feeling fine so far.
My vaccinated son got tested today, expect it to be positive, he's pretty sick today too.
Son that is unvaccinated feels fine, so far.
Get this, husbands oxygen dropped to 85 during the treatment! The said if he lived 15 minutes away they would have admitted him but because we are closer to 10 minutes away they sent him home!
Whose going to know if his oxygen drops dangerously low during the night without monitoring?
So husband had the antibody injections yesterday, his oxygen improved to 93 during the night but today is back down to 90. Feels a little better though. Diagnosed with covid/ pneumonia.
My son's test came back positive, he had the injections this afternoon and is feeling a little better already.
I still felt fine but PC wanted me to get them as a preventative, living in a house with 2 covid positive people, so I did. Wearing masks all day and night are really irritating my face, feel as if they're lined with fiberglass!! I look like rudolf!!
Merry Christmas Eve!

Quick update, son is better, only has slight cough remaining๐
Husband is also feeling better, coughs a lot, gets sweaty, weak and short of breath quickly but that continues to improve a little each day. ๐
Both continuing to isolate.
The new cdc guidelines released yesterday are interesting to say the least...
