For Falalalala again or anyone else....

Here is the motorcycle my husband did for our neighbor for Christmas. The picture doesn't really do it justice. My favorite wood on this is the saddlebags called Canary Wood. There's also padauk, walnut, ash, & birch. I think this one has about 125 different pieces. He just ordered a pattern of an old waterwheel mill barn. The finish is all had rubbed clear gel. I got to help with that along with the finish sanding. It was fun. My husband loves to do this but it really takes a lot out of him. He can barely walk some days but he will sit at the scroll saw and cut out all these little pieces and then at the sander or with the Dremel tool. I have to be out in the shop with him when he is working on this stuff for "just in case". The last thing I need is for him to blackout while working the scroll saw. I love woodworking but these days I would rather be quilting.

It's beautiful! That must be thrilling to watch this take shape and be a part of it. You and your hubby are really talented. Does he get involved in your quilting?

only if he is building or buying something for me that I need to get the job done. Although when I did break my arm a couple of years ago he sewed on an elastic band on a skirt for me. He knows basic sewing. Several years ago he sewed a 10'x 10' white tent to use in a show. He sold ceramic fireplace logs at the time & they couldn't demo the logs inside the building but they could outside so he made a tent.

That is so beautiful, hairbrain4

You should set up your studios so that you can both be together ~ him woodworking, and you quilting! Keep Smiling :-D

I wish that could happen but we live in the forest in Mena, AR. We live in a single-wide mobile home. His shop is a U-Haul trailer & the bedroom converts into my sewing room, thanks to a large piece of plywood that my husband attached my 3' x 5' cutting mat too. I'm not sure but I don't think sawdust & sewing machines are compatible especially since they really don't even like fabric dust. Don't get me wrong, the thought has crossed my mind!😀

I can only imagine the masterpieces that you could create together, hairbrain4 :-D

Gorgeous!

Maybe you could make a "wooden" quilt together?

I have seen examples of this as wall hangings but I think it'd be nice as a lid for a wooden box.

That motorcycle one would have been a pretty big box as it was about 18" x 28". They are also pretty delicate too as they are just glued onto the backing board. That original pattern was for a 3D motorcycle & has a kickstand so it can lean to one side like a real motorcycle. He said he wasn't up to that level yet! But the picture of the original is awesome.
