I really like where I am living, but when I moved in no one was ever using the community room. So I asked a couple of my favorite ladies if they wanted to get together to play games each afternoon. We have been playing at 1 everyday for about 6 weeks. We have so much fun, get laughing so hard, get a bit boisterous. People started wandering in, asking if we were drinking! We usually play Rummikub, our favorite. Four can play at a time. We rotated turns, but it got so big, I bought a second set of it. I have loads of games and there are games there. Now we have about 12 people playing everyday! It may seem like no big deal, but I guess they have tried for years to do something like this. It is working! My kids say leave it to me to get the pot stirred and shake up the old folks! Got them out of their apartments, laughing and playing like young kids. Just wanted to share the magic happening here, with walkers, canes and wheelchairs! Love to all, Kelly xx

Great fun! I volunteer for a 98 yr old who kicks my butt in rumikub (occasionally she cheats😉)

What a great idea! Games are a great way of bringing people together to socialize (emotional benefits), and for elders they have cognitive benefits as well! Next thing we hear will be your promotion to Activities Director!!!

love it sometimes it just takes a special person that can get everyone together to have a good time .....it makes us feel so much better to be laughing really hard with a bunch of people that just enjoy life for what it is ...breath deep and keep the laughing up to a high level ....enjoy all of the new friends you have made and maybe others really are enjoying others that they didn't even know were there to get together with...keep up all of the fun ....love and happiness is great ...

Thank you! I am not too sure about being wonderful, but it has certainly been a boost in the arm for all of us to laugh, get together and just carry on like children again! We all enjoy our time together, have even gotten them to learn new games, as well as old favorites. The funniest one is when they play play my Operation game...a lot of swearing goes on from these seniors! 🤣😂Hope you are well, darling! Love, Kelly xx

Yes, the “wish bone” seems to cause the most swearing, the rubber band, the least. We all wait for the buzzer to go off to be followed by some choice word! Very out of character for these folks! 😂🤣

It is so much fun. Many of us are far from our grandchildren. Kind of fills in that gap...just a bit.

I love games. We have a whole bunch. When our kids were younger they would invite their friends over for game night. We always joined in. A few times there parents would come.

My current favorite is Catch Phrase.

My children and I played board games just about everyday. Then my grandchildren! I was missing it! I never dreamed so many others were missing it also. Lots of good memories get shared...camping trips, sitting with loved ones on holidays, etc. Very happy memories, while I hope we are creating new ones.

This is so wholesome! People like you have a special place in heaven. You truly made them feel like they were teens again and that's a feeling that you cannot buy with anything. I am working in a nursing home and I have tried to play computer games with the people there. Last time, we have played Minecraft on ggservers.com and I must tell you that they were laughing so hard and I am sure that they had a memorable experience. It's really important to make anyone feel like they are part of something. That's the key to life if you ask me

What does luck or chance mean to you? Are you sure insurance will help? Personally, I consider myself a fatalist. What is supposed to happen in the first place.
