Oh no you didn’t!

I need to VENT!!!!!!! Because I'M NOT HAPPY!!

I went to grocery store to pick up a few things. I'm waiting in the self-checkout line and I dropped a $20 bill (yep that's me trying to hold everything, because I didn't grab a cart). The guy in front of me picked it up. I thanked him and held my hand out, and he said, "The things found on earth are kept by the collector," and turns away.

Remember I am not feeling well and my patience is non existent.

😡I was like...WHAT?!?!? (I could really use 'italics' here...)

I looked at the person behind me in line, they couldn't believe it either... this can't be real life right now right?!

So I took a deep breath and I turned back towards the man/thief or whatever you want to call him and decided TODAY WAS NOT THE DAY!!! so I stepped closer, I said, "Do I look like I'm in the mood?! Let's not play games. Give me back my money."

He had the nerve to ignore me completely and TRIED to walk away from me... (Clearly... he didn't know me!) SOOOOO, of course I left everything and followed him into the parking lot as I was calling the police (because of course somebody's about to go to jail... not sure who at this point - him or me). he was almost running at this point to get away from me, which was the first sign of real

intelligence this guy had shown.

When he got to his car he put his bags on the ground trying to quickly get his trunk open.

I was boiling at this point! I decided that his “finders keepers" rule just presented the perfect opportunity for a great teachable moment... SO... I went into track star mode and ran (hobbled) full speed, and grabbed his grocery bags, and headed to my car yelling, "Things found on earth are kept by the collector!" Right!

I hopped in my car ignoring his every attempt to get me to stop. Now, he was willing to give me my $20... I admit, I was out of line, but he was too. But I was HOT (and not in a good way), but I had a great sense of satisfaction at the same time. I get home and open the bags and what did I find?

3 packs of rib eye steaks

3 pounds of wild caught salmon

2 pounds of potatoes

Everything to make me extremely happy for a few days!

And...

A fairly nice bottle of wine even though I don’t drink!

I can't help but think to myself... WOW! Not bad for $20!

In all seriousness... this is just a joke to see who would read the entire post. I really didn't go shopping today.

You certainly had me going, I was seething at the cheek of the guy, and I was wondering what I would do in the same situation, but if I had found steak , salmon and wine, I would have give him back, chocolate, now I would have kept it 😂

OMG I couldn't help but to smile while reading this. I know I have been in situations like that where you are thinking this way. I use the words "To Wanda" from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes as she rams her car into the person that stole her parking spot. We all want to do what you just did today. Wrong or right. Just think what that man/thief is telling his friends and family. He wont do that again. Good job!

Probably not! That’s what is great. True stories would be dull.

I must tell you, at first, I was a little angry at being “hoodwinked “. But now I realize that you are a great story teller, and looking forward to more. But know that if anything truly horrible happens to you, no one will believe you! 😆

TexasLawman, you'd never get that far here in Chicagoland without fear of the wild west consequences. But I loved the ending. But really, who shops like that? Well in my friend's neighborhood? Where that house goes for x.x million, and that one y.y millon... How I miss the days of dreaming I'd be there too one day, and could shop like that if I wanted to. Though back then I'd be overjoyed with a couple of frozen pizzas? BUT, now,... I'll take the salmon!!!

I live in Texas, we know Wild West!

MarkUpnorth profile image
MarkUpnorth in reply to TexasLawman

No, I lived there too! It was not like here. There I could walk anywhere with a gun ON my hip, except in a bank or a bar, pre the days of CC, but no-one ever did, except while out plinking in the desert. Here, I can't stand the news, someone shot these, and someone was shot,.....for half the news.

Going to move back soon as I can. There life was civilized!

Yes, Texas is not like the rest of the country. Most are sane here. My town has almost 1 million people but still had that “small town” feel. People hold the door for you. It’s not uncommon for strangers to just talk for 30-45 mins and not even exchange names. People of all color live in peace and laugh and help each other. Now, not everyone is like this, but most are. Other than Italy it’s the best place I have lived.
