You can have many lesions and relatively minimal impairments, or almost no lesions and a high level of impairment - everyone is different and it can also depend on where lesions are located. Some people's MRIs can light up like a Christmas tree, and they can be almost normal, and the reverse can be true. Some apparent lesions can also be from other problems such a ischaemic issues. MS is so highly individual that any comparisons with other PwMS is a pretty pointless exercise.
I'm sorry to hear this, but as Frances_B stated, we are all so different that it's hard to say what your course will be. I hope the doctor encouraged you to keep mentally active to prevent or slow any decline as much as possible. Reading actual books, puzzles of any kind, learning anything new, and much more seem to help.
I have over 200 spots but like a piece of art...its how I take it.Usually* my words come out well, *usually I can walk and sometimes the art changes on me.Black holes to me now mean "fill in the blank!"Seriously ...I have found day by day to take and enjoy the gift of a childs laugh or a fav series...a good doctor is everything.
I’ve never had all of my lesions counted, but they are not that many and no black holes. I have at least 6 on my c-spine and one weird brain lesion that’s very big.
Learning about how to prevent cognitive decline as you age and/or activities you can make part of your lifestyle now to prevent brain shrinkage may be more fruitful for you than finding others that also have black holes.
You’re welcome! If you don’t know where to start, MSAA has published articles and has videos that teach about MS. Aaron Boster is a neurologist that has videos on YouTube and everyone here seems to like him and how he explains things. For black holes, I will have to think on it, I know there’s a few scholarly articles I’ve read a few years ago.
soo sorry.when I ask my dr how many I have,he answered "I can tell you have had this a long time and too many to count"I ignore that if I can and "keep on truckin"!
i don't know how many i have ...don't know what this would mean sorry can't give you an answer....waiting for others to answer and then i will call my doctor to see how much i have...thank you...
I don't have any idea. They won't tell me. All they say is I have a massive one in my left temporal lobe. At my last MRI I asked the technician, who felt really bad because she made fun of me saying that I'm a hard stick, then she had boatloads of trouble finding a vein. She showed me some of the screen shots and showed me what they looked like. She flicked through the screens really fast but on one of them when she paused I counted 17 but there were more. So ????
I am seeing my doc on Wednesday to hear my results of last Friday's MRI results and have already asked to have copies of both MRI"s, that have been done. I will share when I get the copies. I am curious for myself.
