Have you done one? Are you in one? Are you interested in looking for one? Or interested in learning more about them?

What are Clinical Trials?

Clinical trials are scientific studies that test the safety and effectiveness of new treatments for MS and other diseases. They often use human subjects. They are often conducted by universities, MS clinics, and neurologists. All clinical studies must follow an FDA-approved protocol so that all treatment is provided and all data is collected uniformly.

Why are Clinical Trials important?

The results yielded from clinical trials are vital to the development of safer, more effective treatments for MS. No drug can be approved by the FDA without clinical trial proof of their safety and effectiveness. The major advances made in the treatment of MS in the last 15-20 years have only been made because of the data provided through clinical trials.

MSAA has a site where you can search for clinical trials in your area, and if you qualify! Check it out!

MS needs to go down!

I’m in a trial for fatigue. I tried to do other trials but the people never returned my calls. I don’t try to do trials that require me to take meds or give up my dna

When I signed up and was admitted to the trial I had to do an interview and a walking test to see how far I could walk timed. As well as a test about recalling numbers and adding (I have no clue what that test was for)

Then I had to fill out a questionaire a majority of the questions was repeats or they didn't apply to me. I would call and tell them that some of the questions didn't apply to me and was told to put an answer that they provided for me needless to say the questionaire said I was depressed - yeah right

The trial itself has me in a group that take weekly sessions on the internet and answer questions and do worksheets on how I would manage my fatigue after watching videos

I get paid to answer question that are common sense

I am always interested in clinical trials because they advance the discoveries in the medical arena. I have been in a clinical trial since my diagnosis. I participate in everything from cognitive to blood tests. My results assist researchers. :-D

I've never been approached to take part in one and if I was, I'm not sure if I would do it. I'm fairly stable and don't want to mess that up!

Youngest son is now home so I feel like I'm walking on eggshells in my own home. Time will tell. I have nightmares every night.

Great and pertinent article. Wayi to share the news about clinical trials. The article was fantastic. I've always been extremely interested in them but my age is always been a factor that has kept me out of the. . Fancy.

I did one for a new MRI machine.

Nothing ever came of it and I was not notified of any worsening of lesions so I guess that was good.
