What are Clinical Trials?
Clinical trials are scientific studies that test the safety and effectiveness of new treatments for MS and other diseases. They often use human subjects. They are often conducted by universities, MS clinics, and neurologists. All clinical studies must follow an FDA-approved protocol so that all treatment is provided and all data is collected uniformly.
Why are Clinical Trials important?
The results yielded from clinical trials are vital to the development of safer, more effective treatments for MS. No drug can be approved by the FDA without clinical trial proof of their safety and effectiveness. The major advances made in the treatment of MS in the last 15-20 years have only been made because of the data provided through clinical trials.
MSAA has a site where you can search for clinical trials in your area, and if you qualify! Check it out!
