ALCOHOL and MS
I like an occasional drink but find it leads to an early waking the following day and I like to do as much as possible with my days so tend just to make it very occasional indeed.
Considering that MS can affect our balance and cognitive functions already, it may be wise to reconsider having more than one. But the literature I've seen so far is kind of iffy about its effects on the MS itself.
Several of my friends thru the years with MS have drank with no side effects. Of course they only have 2-3 at one time and didn’t drive anymore. I quit drinking way before my diagnosis of MS so I personally don’t know how it would effect me. I do not think it would be good for my balance issue and I have a brace for drop foot could be a major problem ? I think I would ask your doctor it’s effects with your medication. Ken 🐾🐾😉
raspberrybird, If it is Good Red Wine w/ reversatrol, & helps open our blood brain barrier, any other strong drinks destroy what poor cells we have left 😣 & Beer usually causes exaserbations & imflammations due to wheat, barley & sometimes Rye (Gluten).... So, I 'm fine w/ a small glass of Sangria every 2 days is good. Just FYI!😃😄💗❤---Jazzy🌹💜
When I do have any alcohol, I limit myself to two drinks.Anything more than two really compromises my gait. I look like I have had too much MS.
don't risk taking drink because primary issue is balance/falling. If I don't drink I can exclude that as reason for fall. I take 10 breaths and 10 breaths out (slowly) and find it relaxes me more than taking a drink.
I wouldn’t call this advice, but I do drink alcohol. I like to have a glass or two of wine in the evening and a Margarita on a weekend if we go out. I didn’t drink at all for about nine months a few years ago. With respect to my MS, I can’t say I noticed any difference. But everyone is different.
