MS and Acupuncture
Hi Bettyolm, I have had acupuncture many times for injuries and pain. I had it for trineuroalger ( can't spell) and it relieved the pain, but for ms? I don't know where they would put the needles. If you try it let us know how you get on, very interesting, blessings Jimeka
I do acupuncture once a week. It helps to control my leg spasms.
I agree with jimeka that's a really good question Bettyolm but doesn't it hurt? 😕

Yes I have tried acupuncture and though I wasn't a strong believer going into the sessions, I wanted to leave no stone unturned with my MS. I have to be honest and say I did not see/feel any improvement from the 2 sessions I received. I was not really adverse just not expecting much and unfortunately did not get much, sorry.
I have tried for back spasms on both sides and I had no help.
I did acupuncture a few times years ago when first diagnosed, but saw no improvement. That being said, I would try it again now because I am desperate to feel better. Kelly xx
A few years ago I did acupuncture once a week for a year and it did not help the MS. It did not hurt at all.
Bettyolm 10 years ago, I tripped, fell, and shattered my left wrist, requiring multiple surgeries. After 6 weeks, when the external fixator was removed and I began intensive therapy to regain use of my hand, the wrist and forearm began to swell and become very painful. The hand therapist fearing the onset of a chronic pain syndrome recommended acupuncture. I hate the sight/idea needles so I was scared but went once a week for about 2 months. The swelling gradually went away, the pain disappeared...and more surprisingly, I found the acupuncture process very calming and never painful. Several years later, I went twice a month for a year for help with arthritic pain. If I were a rich gal, I would go every week because my CNS evidently likes it! Not all acupuncturists are equal, so if you try this, ask around.
WOW! I feel for you regarding your wrist trauma. Right now I am recovering from a fall that only ended in a metatarsal stress fracture. You make me feel very fortunate!! I am moving about in a wheelchair now....foot IS getting better! A friend told me about acupuncture..... It worked for a friend of hers who had RRMS. Mine is progressive....so who knows? IF I go at all I will wait till my foot heels. I will let you know for sure! Thanks goatgal!!😊

Regarding acupunctune, I was scared of it, didn't have faith int it, belived it hurt a lot. My 43 yr old daughtr went to a chirpropractor ofr her Crohn's Disease pain and it worked wonders for her. Whe my new Nuerologist sent me to OT/PT who did "needling" as the medical field calls it for insurance purposes, I was scared, but been in so much pain what could more go wrong? My husband was there and he said the needles were extremely small (I wouldn't look at them). OT inserted them all over my back. After 2 visits, all neck pain was gone, right arm pain was gone, and right thigh pain was decreased greatly. And I slept more soundly than I had in years. As soon as I settle with insurance that they will pay for future treatments since it is billed as hospital outpatient rehabilitation for muscles, I will be going back. It is better than a pain pill or sleeping pill!!!
