Christmas sucks this years. I have MS and have been in the hospital at since December 6th, due to an MS flair up and now in a rehabilitation hospital. I am praying that I get out in time to at least spend Christmas with my eleven year old son.

Hi alsparling05 I'm so sorry your going through this. My prayers are with you so you will be able to go home. Is there anyway they might let you go home for the day? Never hurts to ask.

What kind of flare up did you have, if you don't mind me asking?

Hoping your Christmas gets better. ☺

Jes

I am going to ask towards mid -week if that is okay.

I have lost much of the mobility on the left side of my body. I am having terrible headaches, that cause blurred double vision.

Each day I think I am taking two steps forward with my recovery the next I am falling two back.

Try not to over due yourself on days its going well and you are in the middle of your second step forward. Perhaps stop after the first step forward and see if you hold onto the progress you have made the next day. Or split your rehab and do half of it and then wait a 3 or 4 hours and do a little more. Talk to your Therapist and express your concerns about your lack of advancement can't see what they think these ideas. It sure can't hurt if what you doing right now doesn't seem to be getting the results you desire. Please keep in touch and let us know what's up. Take care of yourself. And hopefully you'll be singing carols around the christmas tree with your son.

Alsparling05, this is Fancy1959. Right now I wish I could reach through this electronic link and give you a big bear hug. We have all found herself down in the gutter from time to time when dealing with a MS. The timing of your flair might stink but try not to blame that on Christmas. Half the battle with Ms is knowing you can beat this monster. Making sure you keep a positive attitude and then try to think outside the box in order to make things happen.

Hopefully you'll be ready to be discharged before Christmas. If not try to speak to your doctor, to see if can allow you to possibly get home for 2 days over the Christmas Day Holiday, then come back in to finish your P.T. Express how much you need your son and your son needs you. Advise them how much it would help your spirit and your soul to take a break from the hospital and get home for a couple days. Meanwhile volunteer your family and friends to put your Christmas tree up and don't be afraid to give them a list of things that your son would like for Christmas. On the list make sure they gift wrap your sons presents! You might as well go for gold! LOL!

Please talk to us as often as you need. We are only post away. We have big shoulders in which to vent on or even cry on. By sharing our successes and our failures we learn from one another. Sometimes we cry together and sometimes we laugh together. What I want to impress upon you is that together we are stronger. And I would like to invite you to become our newest MS Warrior. As an MS Warrior we never give up and never give in we simply fight on! So to you i say, fight on MS Warrior, fight to spend Christmas with your son!

Prayers you are able to be home for Christmas. If not, can perhaps your son come to you and bring the celebration? We all find times that we have to change our expectations but not our hope, love, and our support of each other!
