Set the alarm clock for the time every day. Get out of bed, no snoozing. Get out of bed, have an important reason to get up. Now get up and stay up no going back for an extra couple hours of nap time. I may very well be retired, but that is no excuse for sleeping my life away. By the way, I am retired, that is always said with a knowing smile. The average man on the street does not need to know I am chronically disabled unless I want him to know. Let him wonder, it amuses me and I need the amusement.

These are little things that "YOU" will pick up over time. This does not have to be a doom and gloom event in your life. There are many ways for "YOU" to adjust your behaviour and others perceptions of "YOU" to your advantage. Find them and use them. There is no need to be a poor pitiful victim. That is for other people. "YOU" have an inner flame burning brighter each day, a strength that is always there that tells "YOU, YES I CAN, YES I WILL I AM NOT BEATEN MERELY BRUISED", say it and BELIEVE it. Whenever "YOU" have doubts, which trust me "YOU" will have. Reach back into your memory vault and find success. "YOU" did it once "YOU" can do it again. No memory vault, borrow one of mine if it helps "YOU" to get through I am glad I could help.

This is a very long and confusing illness, take help where "YOU" can and when "YOU" can. One day when "YOU" are able, give back to somebody else. This is a life long journey that we travel, make it as worthwhile to yourself and others as much as "YOU" possibly can. It may take a few days, years, decades to develop this attitude, just have it there in the back of your mind. One day "YOU" will be ready and "YOU" will light up the cold dark night for somebody else. In my opinion, this is very good, it makes it all a little more worthwhile. A little less painful and pointless.

Every time I help you I help me and you help somebody else. The wheel turns, and we are all connected.

I am with you! I get up every morning at 6:00 and never intentionally take a nap, however I may nod off for a few minutes.😂

hey, no problem, at least your intention is there, none of us is 100% perfect all the time.

Been retired for three years and I get up every morning between 7-7:30 AM. I will normally wake up 5:30 am as that is what I did forty five years. I am lucky enough now I can go back to sleep 😴 for a little longer 👍. No naps, but I go to bed lot early than I used to. Don’t sleep anymore but I rest good 🙏😊. Ken 🐾🐾

I'm with you 100% but easier said than done. Prior to MS diagnosis last Spring, I could not get out of bed. It was like fatigue would hit me like a brick at the same time as the alarm clock. "Snooze" was both my favorite and most hated feature of the alarm clock.

Now, with treatment, I get my day started like a clock. After 10 years of fighting with myself to get out of bed, I've been in this new get up and going rhythm for about 3 months. I can only hope that this lasts.
