This is Irene. A woman in Canada said she wanted me to do this. I told her the price before she commissioned it. It took forever and will probably be the only person I do as it was so stressful. I would wake at 3 AM and fret about it. Got it done yesterday after spending 9 hours at my table finishing it. Sent her the photo of it. She likes it and asks (again) how much. I tell her (again) and she says she can't afford it!!! Pissed. I worked so hard on this and worried over it purchasing different color beads because I didn't like what I had... Really irritated... Grrrrr.....

Aww that’s not fair, she should have at least have given you a down payment to cover your materials. I must admit it’s a work of art. Well done, now you know you can do portraits. Blessings Jimeka 🤗
I agree with jimeka Perhaps in the future, you should ask for a non-refundable deposit and have something in writing. I know this one is very personalized, besides the fact that you put so much time and work into it. I'm sorry about what happened, but believe you could still sell it. It' s wonderful!
It is wonderful, and she should honor the agreement and NOT bicker over the price. It is truly a work of art! Thank you for sharing!
Oh no, that’s terrible!
It's really beautiful but she should honor her part of the deal. Maybe you could talk to a local art gallery to try and sell it that way along with a few of your other beautiful pieces that you have done.
Nice work someone will want it
mrsmike9buffering Bummer! What about a non-refundable deposit to cover this sort of situation? Even if you can absorb the cost of your sleepless nights and labor, the materials cost will add up. I don't know how the buttons and beads are attached, so excuse my ignorance, but can they be removed and salvaged for another project?
They are glued down. I could take it apart but (1) it would break my heart after all that work and (2) it's a ton of work to disassemble. I had to take another, smaller one apart that was just wrong - it wasn't even done - and I still have the pieces in a container because I'm not up to scraping all the glue off yet. So I guess Irene is mine. I have learned a valuable lesson to take a non-refundable down payment first.
mrsmike9buffering On reflection, my idea sounds like a bad one for many reasons. I like the suggestion from Peruzzot to include it in a gallery display. I have been in restaurants and libraries where the artwork displayed includes a discreet price list for those works available for sale. Perhaps this beautiful portrait would remind someone of a family member.
I may offer it on Etsy or something. I think it would reach more people that way...
That is an excellent idea! Reminds me of the saying "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade"!
Keep Smiling,
Carole
I have walked away from the woman who ordered it. The latest is she is telling me her teen age son thinks it's ugly, etc. I told her "enough" - I don't need her toxicity.
What a great talent you have and a steady hand, get half of payment in advanced, you didn't deserve that urgghhhh!
Amazing!
It's really unfortunate that ppl have to be like that mrsmike9 You do incredible work! 🤗💕

I love the piece, but feel so badly that she did that to you. You are a genius! Love you, Kelly xx
That's just rude! I feel for you, but I'm not gonna tell you how to handle your business. Except for.....do something differently.
People that request then don't pay will have their own little place in hell.
It looks great! I'm sorry you had to deal with someone like that, glad you cut it off with her. I'm sure you will be able to sell it on Etsy or Facebook if you are on there.
