Iona60 is correct and that the only MS drug I’m thinking of that can increase blood sugar. Mostly it’s temporary but it can cause someone who has a predisposition for diabetes to have recognition of there diabetes and perhaps need anti diabetic meds.

Jackiesj, it's Fancy1959. This would be a very good subject to post to both your general doctor and your neurologist. I don't think that the medication itself is the primary culprit about causing diabetes in a person. At least for my personal perspective what I worry about is the lack of intense exercise that I used to get and the sanitary lifestyle this monster has forced upon me. Then you add up the injuries I sustained by Falling. The time I've been told not to move and to stay quiet for a week here, 2 weeks there, and the last Fiasco with my broken knee 7-8 weeks there and weight control becomes a true struggle. When you put two and two together the lack of regular exercise that is more than walking around the house, and the weight control issues caused by the sedentary lifestyle that has been forced upon us and you have set up a recipe for diabetes to sneak in and further complicate your already complicated life.

Again speak to your Physicians because this is simply my two cents worth but keep the sugar down that you ingest everyday in your diet and get what exercise you can. Between the two you can hopefully keep your weight in check or even lose a bit of weight which is what I'm working on right now. The six to eight weeks I spent with my leg immobilized because of my broken knee really put a chunk of weight on me that I'm struggling to remove. If you can do these two things I believe it's your best defense against developing diabetes. And who here needs another major health problem to further complicate our daily life! One autoimmune disease is certainly all I care to deal with! Especially when diabetes is an autoimmune disease that we can control to some extent by keeping or weight down and getting what exercise we can. Fancy.

VERY GOOD points.I weigh 116 but the sedimentary lifestyle is a killer.when im up I can do a lot even without legs but than hit down for a week or so in between.Weight can be an issue but we are not all suppose to look alike either. Getting rid of soda...an issue I have and weaning off...not perfect that is for sure.Do not eat breakfast another problem. Now I sit something next to the bed to start.Almost all meds Im on * can give diabetic results even my BP med.Yes, as my daughter said..Google it mom, that's what your doc does!
