Great post jackiesj ! I definitely don't do well in the winter.π And reminding us of even what seems like little things add up!π
This year to be honest, I haven't pushed my girls to come home for Christmas.π I miss them horribly, it's just the hurricanes they bring with them!π And no I don't mean my grandkids! My girls are a force of nature. And I'm tired. So they can make an effort.ππ
So letting stress go is a good thing!π

I hear you!Mine are unable to come until maybe spring.Part is a truly guilt free take care of me time, love them dearly though....
Wintertime is alway difficult for many, no sunshine-vitamin C endorphins to lift our spirits, then add in a few holidays with big expectations.. Yes, dear Jackie, right now it's time to take care of you time! Let others take care of you and do for you what you have always done for them. In regard to the stretching, lifting.. you should be able to have someone get some exercise stretch bands and go slow... don't want the recovery to take longer. The hospital or your doctor's office may have some for you. Thanks for your post!
Holidays used to be nice π, but now glad when there over. I think π€ back I was working and around lot of people and had money π΄ to spend. Had the energy to get all the lights up by Thanksgiving. Had several parties π to go to and lots of family and friends π€ now most of the family and friends have pasted and the hoopla is not quite their. I truly miss those times, but life sure changes as we get older along with poorer health. Our minds are there, but resources and ability is not. Sounds gloomy πI always have to look around and see it could be worse. So I prayππππ and thankful for what Iβve done β and fun times Iβve had πππ ππππ’ππ°πΊπ³βοΈπ π΅πΌββοΈπΏππβΎοΈπ±π π€‘ and fur babies π©π. Ken
Holidays are always tough. We have a combined family of his and mine and they are all over the country so we will be lucky to get a phone call. REALLY! That hurts as much as maybe getting a picture Christmas card that is hand addressed, no sentiment, no handwriting on the back of the card, nada. It's too cold and impersonal for me. We get more love from our dear friends that are local! Maybe that's why there is this saying, "Friends are the family we get to choose!" Maybe I've a little of the Scooge attitude right now! Apologies!
I have used a SAD light for years and highly recommend it. I found the pamphlet in my psychiatrist's office. It is by a Canadian company called Northern Light Technologies. It was a good choice for me, but suggested use is by 3PM as one may have trouble sleeping later.
@joc-42 what is an sad light?
Hi, a sad light is a lamp that helps people who struggle with depression during the winter months because sunshine and outdoor activities are less likely. It has helped me as I use it all year. Thanks for asking, cljones.
Joc-42 gives a great explanation. Here's an NYT article with recommendations: nytimes.com/wirecutter/revi...
If not for my great grandson living with us this year we most likely wouldn't even have a tree.
My Christmas motto for this season is "One day at a time sweet Jesus. That what is asking from you.
Its not about the tree and the gifts its about him. As long as we remember the sacrifice he made for us we should all have a Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas and God bless to all.

I had searched, and found, a floor lamp for my office and home to try to help with the melancholy and not feeling like I was waking up until it was time to go to bed. Now I just realized I expended energy to do something positive but didn't follow through...again! Now there is no money . Going to grab a couple of water bottles for those arm lifts. I really miss excersise. That was always my way through stress. Thanks for reminding me to do SOMETHING.
Hi, it is a challenging time of year with the increased darkness. All the more important to bring light in all forms into one's life, from candles to prayer to watching a comedy, although it may not easy.
A good light for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is NatureBright SunTouch Plus Light and Ion Therapy LamP amazon.com/dp/B000W8Y7FY/re...
Warm hugs to all. I am glad you're here!
