Hello, I'm a long timer, diagnosed in 1991 after 10 years of difficulties figuring out what was wrong. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and worked as a Manufacturing Process Consultant travelling the country until '92 and disability. MS was the best thing that ever happened to me, it taught me what was truly important in life.
Hello MS Community: Hello, I'm a long... - My MSAA Community
Hello MS Community
Welcome! I love your positive attitude! Though we do our share of venting, we try to look at the positives and encourage one another.
I’m grateful in many ways for what I’ve learned because of MS. The list is long. One of the blessings is this extended family of friends.
Attitude is 1/2 the battle. If you look so many people have it worse than we do... I try to help everyone as much as I can but I limit it to two attempts if the person is too negative. I call them black holes, they suck the life out of you! I find it easy to pull out my "MS card" as a viable excuse to disengage. My priority always has to be my wife and family first. Too many people fail to plan for what could happen and get in the woe is me mode. You could get a Glioblastoma and die in 6 months... MS isn't so bad
agreed same here too
I’m still in the process of getting to a better place but I have also come to the conclusion that my diagnosis was actually a blessing in disguise. In the past two years I’ve been forced to reevaluate everything in my life and reorder my priorities. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, so I am trying to move forward without dwelling on the past.
Welcome to the group 🙂
I was diagnosed on July 5, 1991. I just finished a week long motorcycle trip, went numb from the waist down on the final day. My wife and I decided just before I left that she wasn't ready for kids... That same day we found out that my wife was pregnant.

Oh wowzers! Congrats again! Neurosciense, awesome!👍Blessings
she graduated from Simmons with Dual Neuroscience and Biochemistry BS degrees and a minor in BioStatistics in 4 years, 8 semesters on Dean's List and worked in Harvard's BioLab 24 hrs a week for 3 years. Between my son's best friend getting Glioblastoma in brain and death at 16 and daughter getting dropped on her head while the head cheerleader in HS and getting terrible concussion added to my MS for their entire lives they both went into Medical science fields
