Good Morning fellow travellers. Before we start off on our long stroll we really should prepare. Remember I suggested that as ms journeyers we should prepare for all eventualities. Well at least as much as we can.
First off and most important, have YOU got a new and clean pair of Depends on, and a spare pair in your bag? They are much more important than your AmEx card, just never leave home without them. A plastic bag to carry soiled undies in is a good idea as well.
On good ideas, why don't u put your name and medical conditions on your undies. Personally, I put a drawing on mine, but we won't go into that at the moment
I think next maybe our Disease Modifying Therapies in a proper container. Without a doubt, refreshments, need to stay hydrated and perhaps, something to nibble on.
As we are going to keep learning and getting stronger every day. A source of learning about our travelling associate. Excellent idea, to be as knowledgeable as we possibly can be. We are being our own advocate, and it is a very LONG journey.
Now there are other things that we might like to take along, but that is up to YOU. This is YOUR journey so always as best as YOU can, do what is best for, and suits YOU.
On the principle of doing what is best for YOU. YOU may have to leave some things behind. Sadly, YOU, my friend have to take this journey, YOU have no CHOICE, but do understand that it is YOUR journey and YOURS alone. Not everybody is able to, or willing to, walk this path with YOU. It does not always mean that they are cruel and heartless, just that they were not ready yet. Wish them the best, despise them if YOU must, but do remember that being angry with them forever hurts YOU, not them. Use this in all your interactions. Be CONSIDERATE and POLITE but very protective of YOU. If something is going to hurt YOU or upset YOUR health, DO NOT DO IT. I understand that is against some peoples nature, but YOU do have to start doing this. Or you will end up suffering for it, not them.
Perhaps once or twice YOu will try to do things YOU did in the old days. This is okay and normal. it is not exactly always easy to change and ACCEPT the NEW YOU. Practice and LEARN, YOU will start to know what YOU can and shouldn't do. Sometimes YOU know YOU can not do something, but it can be FUN to do it any way YOU have ms, that DOESN"T mean that YOU do not have a sense of adventure or a reckless streak. Just be careful and prepared. Always DO what is BEST for YOU.
Naturally I can not leave out a positive note can I. Have FUN, lots of it. Do fun things, read silly books and try to see the humour in it all. When it is darkest, YOU are alone and scared, Take a moment and say "I CAN, I WILL, I DO" YOU, my friend are not beaten merely knocked down for a few moments. This illness is DOABLE, so let's get on with it and start DOING.
I DO and I can and I say I DID YOU CAN as well. I DID.
