It's great that water keeps "the pipes" running well, too. Preventing those rotten urinary tract infections is so important!

greaterexp,

I agree.

I drink mostly water every day. Some days I will have a Sprite or Snapple drink to kind of change things up.

Have a great day,

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Leslie! I used to drink a lot of pop (Mt. Dew) until a few years ago after I got the flu or something but I drank mostly water when I was sick so after feeling better I cut the pop out for the most part. I know drinking pop is a very hard habit to break for some people.

You're welcome.

I hardly drink pop any more. Just haven’t felt like it and read lots of negative things about it even sugarless ones which is what I would drink.

lbenmaor in reply toitasara

itasara,

You're right on target. Soda is very bad for you. Have you tried flavored seltzer?

Polar makes many different flavors. Pomegrante, Lemon, Rasberry.

NO SUGAR . Anytime someone comes over I offer them water or seltzer. They have some seltzer and can't believer how good it is. One person didn't want to

leave because it was so good.

I second that, Ibenmaor. I’m drinking Mandarin Orange Polar seltzer right now. A very good flavor.

According to my new diagnosis of silent acid reflux, tonic water, seller, lemons, raspberries, blueberries are on th AVOID list. These things are also lo carb so that even limited my choices more. UGH!

So what options do you have?

I think that’s my problem, I don’t drink enough. Jimeka 🦋 🍫

jimeka,

You can train yourself by drinking more water by

making sure you have bottles in your refrigerator

that you can grab and drink.

I don’t either. I have no desire to drink water but I’m trying to drink more but I often forget.

Ibenmaor I have always struggled to recognize my thirst signal. As I've aged and become less heat tolerant, I notice that if I fail to drink enough water, not only does my urine turn yellow, but an afternoon headache develops and my eyes hurt. So: I keep 8 bottles of water in my refrigerator, and line up empties on the counter top as a visual reminder of the need to drink. If I see that there are only one or two empties ready for refill on the counter, I know that I haven't had enough water. It's tricky of course, because too much water late in the day means getting up at night to pee. But it's better to stay hydrated.

goatgal,

Good to know, Everyone! I never liked drinking alot of water (still don't), but I'm a health freak so I know how important it is. It helps to read all of your comments, so thank you! Also, I never knew it could help ease MS symptoms! That's awesome, and inspiring!

I down a few liters a day. I find that having a pitcher of water on my night stand really helps because then there's zero travel or thinking involved. Sometimes I use a packet of crystal light lemonade in my water.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing

I drink nearly a gallon of water a day because of unrelated issues. While you can't prove a negative, I have real doubts about this finding. Drinking water is good. I don't dispute that and most people should drink more of it, but I really do wonder about this.

kdali in reply toDoxytoo

I had the same reaction, but then I read the article and it doesn't apply to people who drink up. Do you have any tips for those dehydrated among us, since you have great water intake habits also?!

Doxytoo,

I felt the same way as you and did some research on the computer.

Not that you can always believe what you read. It said it definitely

did.

Get your blood checked for your sodium level. Pretty obviously most people won't have this problem, but I suffer from water poisoning if I don't add salt to my diet. And, well, if you have incontinence issues, it's going to get worse.

That latter can be a real problem, but since I got on Gilenya, I've seen a real lessening of it. That and a no pee pill. LOL Hytrin is what I'm on, but there is still a considerable reliance on pads an briefs.

lbenmaor profile image
lbenmaor in reply toDoxytoo

Yes, I know my sodium level is off. But I feel if it can help my MS it's worth it

What pill do you take and does in dry you out? I take Vesicare and I cut them in half even tho not scored. It works for the most part, not always but I am a singer and don’t want overly dry vocal cords or throat

I don't take any. I'm educating myself.
