Question for the women out there. (I search the forum on the topic and thought there would be more discussions about this).
I also thought that I was done with the topic and entering menopause but not quite yet. Periods have been back for the past two months and it seems that it makes my symptoms slightly worse. Rather than having electricity in my knee or tingling on and off during the week or throughout the day, these are always on.
What's your experience? Just curious. (and somewhat obsessed by all the various ways MS impacts us).

I think I'm entering peri-menopause and when I have my period it seems that some symptoms get worse. Now that I think about it, tingling in my hand gets worse when it's near. I'm sure there are other things that I just can't think of right now. I hope you get a lot of answers.
Mine are off I may not have 1 for 2-4 months then here it comes last 2-3 days. I dont have issues or symptoms but I never had any periods issues it just cames and goes. Dr says I'm not close to menopause.
I had never been troubled especially by periods except for cramps in the first day or two. I found a good medicine that helped with the cramps and hardly ever was unable to do anything I wanted to do on account of a period. After I'd delivered my first baby I never had cramps again. But MS symptoms started in a big way when I was about 38, and from then on periods were bad until menopause at about 47. There were hemorrhages a couple of times but usually I just had to lie around and do absolutely nothing for the first 2-3 days. Tingling all over my body, vision very blurry, and I felt really weak. I could lie down with my eyes closed and listen to recorded books or music. That was about all I could do. I'm very very glad not to have to go through that any more.
I went through menopause and beginning MS all at once at 48-49. anaishunter I wasn't sure if it was a hot flash or a MS flash after I was dxed. I just gave them turns and my AC a name. I call him Tom.😂
MS I think affected my symptoms. I think. My cramps were horrible. And my temper? Well we won't go there.😞🤣😂 Xanax was on and still is on call! 😒😂 Good luck!🤗💕
I never really have bad cramps. I get very horny when I start. Lol Sorry for being blunt. 😕 When I was paralyzed I didn't have a period for a long time. I think this disease messes with our hormones. ❤🌷
Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I have never thought about MS potentially making your period symptoms worse. I guess it can go both ways.
In my case, I think my periods make my MS symptoms worse.
Your question anaishunter makes sense to me even though I'm long past experiencing menstrual cycles. The normal menstrual cycle and it's increase in fluid and volume will naturally lead to swelling and any type of inflammation is going to increase certain MS symptoms. in some people. If not actual symptoms. It will make you feel under the weather very often and that alone will give you the feeling as if you are having a minor exacerbation in your MS symptoms. Again as we all know each everyone's MS is very unique to each individual so what affects one doesn't necessarily affect another. This definitely Maybe helps or make sense to someone at least! Fancy.
