Well it was an emotional Mother’s day for me. My only daughter was celebrating her first mother’s day and my husband invited his 82 year old mother to our house. My mother in law is set in her ways and just sits and plays games on her phone or iPad. We did dinner out Friday night and my daughter’s mother in law had us all Saturday night. Sunday my daughter, husband and baby wanted to do something with me. What ever was suggested MIL didn’t want to do it. I was in tears all day. My husband tells me I’m to emotional. There is always next year!

You are emotional with ms, and even more so on family get togethers, so you are warranted, especially with it being your daughters first mother’s day. Having been married twice, each time I have been blessed with lovely MIL’s, so now that I am one, I try to be like they were to me. Maybe you can try going out this weekend and celebrating. Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🍫

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I think I was more upset with my daughter because she was making a big deal about it. But I also have difficulty with sorting things out cognitively, that doesn’t help either.

Happy Mothers Day to you and your daughter. With a MIL like that, I would just try to ignore her and enjoy everyone else and everything around you. Try not to let her bring you down 😉 I know its easier said than done.

Mwieand, it's Fancy1959.. well we can cry on each other shoulder because my mother's day was less than terrific as well. The present my boys got me in my husband grudgingly went in on did not arrive on time and I finally got it today. I didn't get a card from my husband I barely got a Happy Mother's Day and then when we were getting ready to head home from our lake house I wiped out and fell and hit my head again. It topped off just a really awful day. I bet you if we took a poll of the chatroom we would not be the only ones who have this less than perfect Mother's Day! Hope today was better for you. Take care until we speak again. Fancy.

Fancy1959, thanks for sharing with me and I’m sorry to hear of you day. Today started out ok, I watch grand daughter who is 3 1/2 months old and she started teething so it was a tough day. Then On the way home my tire pressure in the RR goes low, our rental house hot water heater went and my husband had another crappy day at work. I’m not going to let this dampen the rest of my night or week. What really stinks is my psychologist is on vacation for two weeks so I can’t even talk to him these next two weeks. Thank goodness I can vent on here and talk with such nice people like you.

I am sorry. My only son lives in Atlanta. I live in N. Atlantic area. He called to say Happy Mother’s Day while he was digging up his wife’s garden in 90 degree heat. I am trying my best to take care of my husband who had some serious surgery so we just chilled out. I hope some of your time that weekend was fun. I don’t know about your mother-in-law because I had a very good one and why she would treat you badly unless she could be getting dementia. I hope somewhere among others you had some joy. God Bless you and give you joy in the simple things.

Thanks Berni51, come to find out this week she is ill. Bleeding internally and must have a scop done and cat-scan of her stomach. She just wasn’t feeling good and me being tired took it personally. I must remember others have bad days too.

I hate Mothers Day anymore. Not for my sake (I have 4 kids but tell them they should always treat me nice and don't have to make 1 day for me) but I visited my 96 year old mom. She is not her at all anymore. I said, "Happy Mothers Day!" and she asked if I was her mother. (sigh)

Well I did pretty good my one son bought me a 2 lb of peanut M & M's which was good ate too much he gave me a card he signed his brothers name to it which was a nice thought you should realize his brother lives on the west coast and we are on the east coast lol. my husband bought a card which is highly unusual but he covered about six holidays with this card I think I will hang it up so when it's Christmas he won't need to get me a card. Lol so I guess you can say I had a good day.

I ended up spending the day by myself at Edisto beach. The beach was nice and not too crowded. I also walked about 3 miles ankle deep in the water. It took me almost 3 hours to walk that according to the hike tracker on my phone. For me that's really slow. But my legs felt like rubber when I got back to my truck and the sunscreen washed off in the water. The tops of my feet are both sunburned. All but one child called to wish me a happy mother's day. Drill sergeants didn't let him call...he's in basic training right now. I got a letter from him today though. My oldest said he sent me something but I still haven't gotten it. Maybe tomorrow.

Glad you had a nice walk sorry about the sunburn feet. Glad you’re hearing from the kids even though it’s slow in arriving. Found out my MIL is ill with internal bleeding. She going through testing this week.

I am sorry to hear about ur MIL.

I had a difficult mothers day as well. It was the first mothers day without my mother. She passed away Feb 4th. I didnt get to go to her funeral. Even tho she and i did not get along, i still found it difficult not having her here on mothers day.

I still cry thinking about it and i was never an overly emotional person. We have a right to feel our feelings no matter what they are. If someone doesnt like it they can kick rocks 😁💜

That’s not too far from where my daughter lives. Moncks Corner, SC. Too bad she’s dis-owned me since last June.

She's only about 30 minutes from where I am. Sorry to hear she's being obstanent. Maybe she'll get over her issue soon.
