Small victory

After over a month of wondering I finally received a letter from the insurance company saying the approved the treatment medication I wanted to started treating the ms. I also received my welcome packets from biogen about the medication. I now just need to wait for the specialty pharmacy to send me medication. I am very excited to start treatments. Little things have been popping up this week. I’m not sure if they are me related or something else. I just know the sooner I can start treatment the sooner it may slow down progression

It was the best news yesterday. Worried when I saw the letter last time I got one it was a denial but not this time. He’s starting me on tecfidera.

I shouldn’t have to worry for about a year. I’m pretty excited to have been able to start with oral meds instead of the injections. I would have done whatever I just want to start treatment. I’ll keep you updated once I get them and start.

I'm excited for you on finally getting the approval. Congratulations! ! Anytime my med had to be ordered thru a specialty pharmacy. I never wait for them to contact me. I always call to either get the ball rolling or make sure it's rolling. I have had issues with that in the past. Waited for a call that never came. If there's a number you can call, I would recommend you call it. Be your own advocate.

It’s been a big hassle. I was told by the one that it started with I was denied. Then a few days later I received a call saying it was approved but they are out of network. Called the one they told me to call they hadn’t received anything yet. So I will be calling again.

I'm glad your already aware of the hassle it can be. I hope it gets easier for you!

Congratulations 🎉🎈🎊🍾 Hope this works out for you 👍. At least once the insurance approves, if that med does not work, it’s way easier to switch to the next with doctor orders and reason for next DMT 👍. Good luck and hope you get relief 😉🙏🐾 Ken

Totally boggles my mind. In network. .out of network... this is a med that you need per your doctor for ms. Uggh. My question would be, if it's approved out of network, will it cost you more to get it? Contrary, I know, cause you need it. But financially I would need to know.

Each insurance company has their own specialty pharmacy that they refer you to. The out of pocket has to do with your deductible and out pocket max🤷🏼‍♂️. Call MS Foundation and they can help guide you through this and help find grants for out of pocket and deductibles. Without them, there’s no way I could have afforded any of the DMT’s. A lot depends on your income 🤷🏼‍♂️. Good luck and I hope this helps 👍🙏😉🐾 Ken

I know the first specialty pharmacy had to send it to the one that my insurance covers. Now I’m just trying to get it to me.

Smartcloud1981, congratulations! That is a huge Victory not a small victory. These days one has to be so persistent to get any benefits, or drugs approved from insurance companies and or pharmaceutical companies it sometimes becomes all but ridiculous.

I agree with your sentiment that the sooner you start your DMT or disease-modifying Therapies, the less damage your MS can cause and the better you will hopefully start to feel! So here's to your persistence and the best of luck with your new DMT!👍🍻🎉🎆!!!
