The holidays are here again. Whoopie.... I'm just not feeling it. I'm tired. I feel like such a Scrooge. I hate shopping, cleaning, cooking, wrapping... Just not there. It's so much work.

I went to the mall today to do some shopping and now I am wiped out. You are not alone. Shop online and if they offer gift wrapping pay a little more it is worth it

mrsmike9 do you exchange presents on thanksgiving as well as Christmas? Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈 🦃

No, just Christmas. The only good thing about the holidays is I don't have to go to work! I only work 20 hours/week but I'm so uninspired I want to just stay home. I think the colder weather really hits me as well.

That was me last year, but today I decided to do a little shopping online. Instead of waiting for someone to take me shopping. I was amazed how much easier it is. 🌲😀🎁I Hope you find the Christmas spirit it doesn’t need to be in presents. Try to have other people help you. HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃🍽🍁

I understand. I can't go shopping and walk and walk and walk anymore, looking for the "right" gift. I have a friend I need/want to buy something for -- she always gets me something thoughtful, but this year I can't figure out what the right gift is. I can't think of anything I can order on the internet. And I can't get out and shop. I can't walk well enough to stumble through the crowds at the mall and the stores. And I can't get my house in shape where I'm comfortable having guests over. My family and friends will just have to understand. I miss the days when I could enjoy it all though. Now I'm just glad when it's over! Gee, I sound a little Grinchy.

No you don’t sound like a Grinch because I would be one also, I do understand you wanting to get out and get her something. I also have a Neighbor who helps me out. I think I’m going to get her a gift card from a grocery store she likes to go to but the thing is I am going to have to ask someone in my family to bring me. That sounds easy doesn’t it. Well it’s not. I agree with you I think of the old days when I could go do all the shopping and it was a piece of cake. It is very frustrating.i also understand not wanting people over because the house is not organized. And clean to our standards. My older son and his wife and baby was living with us he decided he was going to redo the bathroom he took out the sink and the walls he left and they are still like that. Let me tell you I am not a happy person.

Well today I decided to look for a pair of sneakers and I found them at Kohls on line and I bought a few more gifts 🎁 I’m not done yet but I am determined to have a halfway decent holidays. You should to just think of what your Neighbor likes or where she likes to go I don’t know where you live but I lived in Massachusetts and at CVS they sell gift cards all different kinds just read them because some of them just to open them and use them you have to pay a fee. Do you have a family member who can take you. Do you have a wheelchair or even a rollator that has a seat.

Or maybe a family member can go to the store and get it for you. I’m just trying to help you not trying to be pushy. I just want you to enjoy the holidays.

Good luck to your 😊😊

Tell son that he has until the end of Jan to get it done. After that you are hiring it to be done and he is paying for it! (I don't suffer fools...)

I have to let you know my older son has moved to Utah so that is not happening. I know I am a sucker oh my sister in S.C. Is not happy with him. I know you think my husband should be fixing it well he not happy about it. He helps me i mean he is the one that does works full and it isn’t a easy job. He then comes home to take care of me. So I

It will get done sometime.

Why?

in reply tossdw1958

I'm still able to walk, just not very well or very far. I do better in a store like Walgreens or the grocery store where I can push a buggy and use it like a walker. But I'm good for about 20 minutes before my legs get too heavy and start to wear down. So if I need to browse and think and comparison shop, all while dealing with a crowded store, I'm not able to do that any more. I don't buy gift cards much but I like your idea. I know a store my friend particularly likes and it's not a chain, but I'm sure they sell gift cards. I do enjoy the holiday season. I know it's gotten way too commercial, but it does affect some with the Christmas spirit and cheers the world a little. I live where it is cold and dark and there is snow on the ground all winter. Because of this a lot of people put up lights for the holidays, and leave them up all winter. Which also makes the world a brighter place. MS has made me more appreciative of the simple things. Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. Happy holidays to you!

I do the walgreens shuffle for 20 minutes too. It's the only place I go solo. All the stores are exactly the same by the way. All states. I ask somebody to grab me a cart and I go in barefoot. Rain, sleet or snow. LOL

That's exactly me to a T. Has been for years. THE HOUSE!!!. I was always the one to do everything. Putting boots in the fireplace to look like Santa came down. Left the bathroom window open with glitter coming in looking like the tooth fairy came. Etc, etc..... I am now over compensating the other direction. I'm sure I will even out. Bath & Body Works has their sale coming up. Buy 3 products get 3 free. Every woman I know likes their products She can even return them for a different smell if she wants to. This is when I get me Shea body butter. It's the only product that keeps me even semi-close to being hydrated.

Happy Thanks Giving everybody!!

They also have a limited edition gift baskets if your lucky enough to snag one before they run out on Black Friday.

Online too of course!

in reply toSometimesCrazy

I used to buy gifts from there for someone almost every Christmas. I haven't been in a B&BW in years. I could probably order something online. Thanks for that idea. Yes, I was the person who did everything. I miss being able to do all that. But I'm learning to accept my new normal and let others carry the load. Not so bad really. I've been able to slow down and learn to accept the things I cannot change, with grace and gratitude for all the good things in my life. Happy Thanksgiving!

I that was a good idea my husband threw carrots 🥕 on the roof and on the ground I remember going to sleep and the next door neighbors dog was barking and I said to my husband I wish that dog would stop and he said that’s good if our son wakes up he will think it’s Santa. I know my kids are grown up but I wish I could still do it.

in reply tossdw1958

Carrots for the reindeer? Nobody ever thinks of the reindeer. Just cookies for Santa. Nice touch!

A few years ago we decided with family and friends to stop 🛑 🎁 for x-mas and everyone understood that it’s hard and a big money 💰 issue also. That’s what really made them understand 👍 hard to do, but it’s real....I really miss putting up the lights. Gave them to my niece with all decorations, 🎅, 🦌, etc. She has three little kids to enjoy.🤗 it works out with lots of 🙏🙏🙏👍🙏 I forgot to mention that we still get together and have friends and family over for food and drinks. Getting together is what it should be about, not presents ❤️🤗 This takes away the stress for all of us 😉

My MS isn't even that bad and I still don't want to mess with it. My kids range in age from 19-27 so the fun of little ones is past.

Yes, they are here, but try not to feel obligated to do everything. If you can ask others to help, do it! Use store bought or the easy way to give yourself a break. Rest, rest, rest!! I say this after we went to 3 stores this morning, then I spent 1 1/2 hrs cracking fresh crab, cleaning up the kitchen and me. Then the hardware store called to tell me my order had come in, so of course I went to pick it up & browse their shelves. Then I spent at least an hour in the Dollar store. I’m home now, laying in bed, heating pad on feet and my huge kitty laying across my knees. Thank goodness it’s hubby’s turn to cook tonight. Get some rest, and have a very restful Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🍽. Lynn

Since I’ve been married I always had a real tree 🌲 since I can’t water it and decorate it I got a fake tree 🌲 this is the best it has a remote control and it has about 5 settings which is pretty cool I change the settings on my husband and when I first did it he just looked at me and said did you do that I said I don’t know what you’re talking about. Well that didn’t last long I’m not good a fibbing lol but that’s my extent of Christmas decorations. I think it is only 3 1/2 feet tall.

I really like to shop on Etsy. You can find gifts in almost every category and it's not the same thing that everyone else is selling. I find it easier to get that "something special" for a person when I shop there.
