Thing of beauty....

I wanted to share one of my favorite blooms! It just happens to explde on these two trees that I have is you come into our farm. They are absolutely stunning from about end of May to early July when they are covered by the hundreds in these fragile blooms. The severe rain/monsoon weather we had last week really took its toll on the blooms but I happen to be able to find enough to still send this gorgeous shot to you all. Enjoy!

Sorry that I didn't put down that this was the bloom of a Mimosa Tree. Growing up my parents had one in our front yard in Cincinnati Ohio. I always loved it so I made it my mission to find some young starts and transplant them on my farm about 10 years ago. I have four more young plant started in our back yard. Everyone who talked about them being the Mimosa Trees were exactly right. We do find them in the wild here in Kentucky and Tennessee and Missouri and anyplace in that zone or south of it. Fancy1959 Thank you for the photo. Mimosas (the tree, not the drink) are indeed lovely! So lacy and delicate...yet amazingly sturdy. Somehow, several volunteered along the lane leading to the gate on my farm in Virginia.

Are they red brush like flowers? We call them bottlebrush trees on the central coast of CA

I love the look of mimosa trees, Fancy1959 . Their blooms are delightful, but, unfortunately, around here they're not well-respected. Their wood isn't strong and they're messy. Hubby doesn't want them in our yard. My parents had a pretty one in their yard when they lived in Dallas.

Fancy1959 These are the biggest mimosa blooms that I have ever seen. In our old house, we had a mimosa tree outside our bedroom window. I would leave the blinds up at night so I could see the sun hit it when I would wake up each morning. Beautiful!
