Horse Therapy

I started horse therapy today! This is my horse. I get to go every Friday.

I am riding in an arena so that i can stop as soon as i feel fatigued. And i have people on eaither side of me in case i start to fall. It still feels so good to be on top of the horse and walk with out stumbling 😁

Midgey_midge06 I am curious to know:how does horse therapy work? What do you do in your time with this beautiful animal?

They had me set goals of things i want to get out of it. To start my goal is to strengthen my core. One person leads the horse around the arena while 2 people stay on either side of me. A physical therapist is also there and she had me do stretches while i was in the saddle. Eventually i am hoping i can ride without anyone leading me.

Midegy_Midge06 This is so interesting! When I had my farm, my adjoining neighbor gave horse therapy to children. She invited me to volunteer/help by leading, then disinvited me when I walked too slowly so I never learned much about it. I never thought about it for mysef! But I would imagine that not only will the stretches be helpful, but also the need to stay upright will strengthen the core and tighten thigh muscles with the need to grip the saddle. Bravo! I'm going through the application process to do the horse therapy. I'm glad you explained your experience because I've been really worried and afraid as to how I wouldn't fall 9ff. The pictures don't show how you get on, off, or move.

Midgey_Midge06 it's Fancy1959. CONGRATULATIONS! You are going to love it. Horseback riding or hippotherapy as they call it will increase the strength in your legs, work on your core strenght, your balance, and your flexibility in your hips, knees, and ankles. What kind of horse are you doing your therapy on? If I get my stupid email to work I will be back in a minute to share something special with you!

It feels so good to be on the horse. Its like u have 4 good legs to walk on instead of 2 wobbly ones. 😁
