Thought I'd share what my foot drop brace looks like in case anyone is curious . It helps prevent my foot from dropping and my toes getting caught on the floor . It's not too uncomfortable , still getting used to it . I recommend this product

My husband has one for each foot, we are used to them being around. He trips over nothing without them.

Hi Good_enough, I have one very much like it but in white. I am looking for a purple one then I could wear it with my shorts, blessings Jimeka

Yes, purple would be awesome . I wonder if it could be painted . What kind of paints would it take? A snazzy pattern would be great , maybe paisley or native American southwest. Or what? Taking suggestions . ..πŸ˜„

Because in hot weather you tend to perspire a lot, the paint would have to be water proof, and we could enrol Iona60 to paint a beautiful scene on them. Or maybe Erash could come up with something. Challenge! Blessings Jimeka

They make some really great stickers (all kinds and patterns) these days, for those of us who are not as artistic or do not have the energy to paint.

Sticker collage , good idea

jimeka , have you tried sharpie permanent markers? They come in lots of colors. They probably wouldn't work for coloring large areas but you could get fancy with them. Racing stripes r purple flames, perhaps? For a less permanent idea, nail enamel might work too.

Have fun.

They keep trying to put me in those.πŸ˜‘ I keep telling them nope. ☺😁 But l like that one tho! Outdoor spray paint maybe?🌠

It'll keep you from tripping and then falling, Jesmcd2 . Maybe even provide more energy as you're spending less mental energy telling your brain to lift your foot. I'd rather go without mine. What others say here about shoes, heat, etc is true. But falling? 😬 I'll wear the ugly, hated AFO. πŸ˜‰

WAshingtongirl l do have braces Hun☺ mine are just high sport lace up ankle braces. They go up about 4" above my ankles. No one taught me to walk when l lost the feeling, the sent me home in those boots and a walker. No follow up really. So my past puppy πŸ’• and l figured it out ourselves. ☺🌠

Oh Jesmcd2 , what a shame. I am so sorry you were left to fend and figure out on your own. I hope you see a new neuro and PT now. Perhaps they can re-evaluate your needs and give you the care and consideration you need and deserve. How frightening this must have been--and so newly diagnosed, too. My ❀️️ goes out to you.πŸ’•

Oh no WAshingtongirl l lost the feeling in my feet over 7 yrs ago. They say it's unrelated to MS. And have no reason, but for my back maybe. I actually consider it a good thing, that they sent me home like that. Because l learned to walk, judging by my ankles. As long as they have enough support, and there is enough length under the foot, lm so far so good.☺. Took alot of falling on my face but you see, God and l have a Love hate relationship. πŸ˜• He loves to push me down, and hates when l get back upπŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Wow Jesmcd2 , if I knew this, I've forgotten. I'm sorry, you've really suffered through some big changes, haven't you? MS is hard enough. Ever wake up wondering what's next? I do...

Yes, what works for one person doesn't necessarily mean it will work for another. It sounds as though you've found the best way for you to remain mobile.

Despite all your struggles, you've managed to maintain your great sense of humor. I am thankful for you and your quirky ways...and thank God for what you mean to all of us here.

You know WAshingtongirl , waking up like that would kind of depress me. I would rather look at the good. There is enough of "what's next" coming up, this l know. So why bring it on faster?

Remaining mobile at the time wasn't an option lol, so once l got done feeling sorry for myself, you figure it out or let it beat you. And no one told me otherwise lol. And l have alot of Guardian Angeles to help me through πŸ’•πŸŒ

I have one of these also. I got it almost immediately after I was diagnosed ... foot drop was what sent me to the neurologist ... but I didn't wear it all the time for quite a while. It was awkward and unsightly. However, it got to be a necessity after a while. I need it's stabilization factor for standing and making transfers.

It's still unattractive and hot in the summer, but I'm glad I have it now.

I noticed it helps in being stabilized as well.

I think it also helps with retraining my brain to use the correct muscles , instead of the muscles I use to swing my leg around using my hip. Plus, continually using my hip that way will wear down the joint ?

I guess one doesn't have to wear it constantly . I kinda dislike having to wear shoes in the house

Unfortunately, I'm now past walking much, but when I was, I was still having to swing my leg. The brace seems to add a good half inch to the length of my already longer I guess we can't win them all. 😎
