My own neurosurgeon told me that I had a metrological scar, as I have pain when it's turning colder and damper. I guess it's all the nerve endings they damage when they cut you open. I have just had a mammogram beacause of the pain caused by having a rib removed. I enjoy spring, not too hot, not too cold, and it brings hope. Blessings Jimeka
erash , I totally agree with you cause I live in Louisiana. I was amazed by the weather conditions after being raised here, but left for 20yrs. to serve in the Army, and I thought I'd enjoy it like I once did as a child. Boy was I wrong!!I
My grandparents always preached to us how our bodies change when you get older, but I never knew it'll change at 41yrs old. Shucks, I feel like a meteorologists at times, and I've gone so far as to send a blog to my local news asking to their meteorologist. I did this because I felt I could dictate the weather conditions better than then they could because cause they were always wrong ! Plus, I added in the blog how I can tell them days prior about the weather conditions ( humidity, etc). Lol. I know they laughed at me, and quickly deleted my blog, but hey, this was one of those depressive moods!π
erash , I was stationed last at Fort Hood, Texas, and my MOS 25u( signal support specialist), but my last job was a COMSEC Custodian. Where were you and what was your MOS? When was your ETS?
Aldasia1 I was in from '77-87 first as a medic then as a army nurse. Stationed: ft Knox Kyle, Wiesbaden Germany, ft Huachuca, Az, ft ord Ca as well as shorter TDYs.
Don't remember why I got out...something about wanting to start a family and the horrible shift work stretches but wish I was reaping the benefits of 20yr retirement right now. Few regrets in life, this is one of them.
erash , no please don't say this because you can very well be receiving benefits!! I say this because if you search online for agent orange on US soil you'll find it in those areas, as well as, in Germany too! Please check it out!! Do you have diabetes too?
Aldasia1 fortunately no diabetes. I looked at VA benefits and other than going to the base for health care, I didn't meet eligibility for $. Needed at least 1 day during a wartime conflict and ther were none b/w 77-87. If you know of something else, fill me in?
erash , you were misinformed! How long ago were you told this because it's not true at all.. as lon as you were in uniform during the time of a conflict then that's considered one. There's a claim called non-service connected claim! Plus, I'd like to add there was evidence of an uranium outbreak at Fort Ord in the 80's. I know about this because my uncle was stationed there and he had problems with swallowing and his esophagus. He's currently receiving VA benefits due to him serving then, and I think you should check it out too!
cnn.com/blogarchive/siu.blo... fort IRS, California uranium reports!! There's more as well, and encourage you to check them out!!
I hope this helps!!
** I strongly encourage you to contact paralyzed veterans of America concerning this information, and provide them any sick call slips or doctor's appointment you've had over the years to clarify your claim!**
Aldasia1 im not sure I was at ft ord during the yrs of concern (there 85-87) but I'm going to contact the paralyzed vets America tomorrow. Thanks! Again
Not many people wanna talk about it either, which is sad. I came of age during the Viet Nam era, and although I was against the war (it took friends way too young) I never blamed the soldiers. I blamed the leaders, both those who got us in and those who failed to get us out. I know too many people who were so traumatized that they would never speak of it, and the govt. never gave them any help. And if anybody ever needed to talk, probably way more then we do. So again, blessings and thanks to ALL our vets!
Hey, Erash. Unlike Phoenix or Tucson, Northern AZ, especially Flagstaff, has a full change of the seasons and in fact Flag gets tons of snow and is a ski area! Sedona, where we live, is in the Verde Valley area, about 45 min. sw of Flag, and we have hot summers (usually averages in the 80s but last year was unseasonably hot--into the 100s and chilly nights (60s), warm autumns (70s), mild winters (50s, very little snow if any but the leaves change color and fall off some trees), and gorgeous springs (60s-70s). Always cool at night--great sleeping weather! Last year, since of course we were here, the winter was freezing and had more snow than usual. For the last couple of days it's been pouring rain, but in the 50s, and blizzarding in Flag! Elevation makes all the difference; we are at 4200 feet while Flag is at 7200....
starlight5 , you know I've learned how to deal with the heat by placing a wet towel( wringing with water) around my neck, so that, I keep my core cool and it helps; especially during when the sun is at its highest point(2-5pm), and I wanna get my daily dose of vitamin D. I enjoy doing this during the summer months while mowing the lawn. This is part of weekly exercise regiment too! π
Ha ha, I wrap a wet cloth around my neck and wet my hat when working in the garden or cutting grass. The humidity is worse than the heat for me. After this last attack, I do not think I will be doing as much gardening though.
They also have cooling vests which you can purchase. In Northern AZ it gets very hot in the summer (and 100 degrees is 100 degrees, humid or dry) and I have one for horseback riding in the hot months. It's great; otherwise, I do overheat and break down into quivering Jello. Sukie427
Definitely Fall, except it's too short-lived. The temperature is usually good, sometimes a nice sweater is involved. The outdoor light reflects beautifully , it's different than any other season. The leaves....the colors, wow. The smell is earthy and honest. The breezes are great because they rustle the leaves, which sounds rhythmically crisp and sharp.
Beautifully said Good_enough used to be how much l loved the fall. Now the fall just depresses me and reminds me that winter is coming. I love spring and summer. Although MS has decided to take that away also. π Neck wraps work for a while tho.
Besides MS, I also have chronic hemiplegic migraines, which are the best barometers ever. I can predict rain before the meteorologists, even when there's not a cloud in the sky. My MS does best in the cold and humidity just turns me into Jello. We moved from South Florida to Northern Arizona partly because of the better climate here. While it gets chilly during the days, it gets very cold at night and best of all it is DRY.
