Alkaline water

Hi. I am trying to explain why alkaline water would be good for our body. Our metabolism waste produce acid, and acid level is not health. Alkaline water is for anti inflammatory purpose only ,not to cure anything neither MS. It is a maintenance for our own body better function, same as a delicate machine where we do not add tap water, which will ruined the equipment. Alkaline water is nothing new. you can buy ready to drink, or some other options(even cancer patient during chemotherapy feels better with alkaline water), easy option is adding lemon to the water, that's so easy.

The other water topic I had mentioned is related to clean water, to reduce toxins ingestion which is present in our common source of water. Since I spend money with a lot of supplements nutrients and medications, why I would keep intoxicating myself accumulating heavy metal, hormones, pest control products and more who could have traces in our water and would not improve my health? Clean water and alkaline water are not any part of any special miracle diet. Just precautions for do not get worse.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge

Your body works very hard to maintain the appropriate pH. Alkaline water isn't going to change it. If it did, that would be very bad for your health. All alkaline water will do is neutralize some of your stomach acid, much like bicarbonate does.

This alkaline water thing is pseudoscience. That means something that sounds like science but is not. The only way you could get alkaline water into your body would be to inject it. When you swallow anything it goes into your stomach which is full of industrial strength hydrochloric acid and this is how your food is digested. You need it and without it you would die. If you drank an equal volume of an equally strong alkali it would burn your mouth and oesophagus and would probably kill you.

Adding lemon to water does not make it alkaline. Lemon tastes sour because in contains citric acid. The following is from ScienceDaily. The link is bellow.

Citric acid is a weak organic acid found in citrus fruits.

It is a natural preservative and is also used to add an acidic (sour) taste to foods and soft drinks.

In biochemistry, it is important as an intermediate in the citric acid cycle and therefore occurs in the metabolism of almost all living things.

Obviously minimising you ingestion of toxins is a great idea but alkaline water has nothing to do with it. You should learn more about real science and how to identify and think critically about nonsense like this alkaline water garbage. It is a con designed to get you to pay money for stuff you don't need.

Okay, great information. I keep my clean water without thinking about buying water with high pH.

That was good info, add lemon in water to make it alkaline πŸ‘πŸ» but how many slice /16oz or to gallon!

Lemon juice is acidic. It makes water acidic not alkaline. Alkaline water is a con. See my comments above.

I love to get response in this blog. Very good. But one more point. Lemon or lime are acid, citric acid, but when they are digested in body system they react getting alkaline and attracting acids, helping detoxing waste acids. It is not supposed to change our body pH. Just helping cleaning our system and reducing inflammation, which is acid pH. Thank you for your good information.

I like your positive attitude. I also like drinking lemon with water, usually with some tea leaf extract and a bit of sucrose.

Sorry to again burst your bubble Miriade but the citric acid, or Krebs cycle has nothing to do with "detoxing waste acids". Have a look at the link below.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citri...

Also inflammation is not due to acid. It is part of your immune systems response to injury or infection. See link.

Again you need to examine the source of your information and to examine the evidence critically, not just accept the slick salesman ship. A good way to start is by asking yourself "Are they going to try to influence me to buy something?" From what you have said previously that first step could have saved you a lot of money.

Thank you for doing your research to show to me your point of view. The graphics are very interesting. But Wikipedia is a source of volunteer answers, not professional level. I understand very well biology, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, and little biotechnology also. I do not waste money in anything superfluo. I have knowledge of Traditional Medicine, Alternative Medicine, Functional Medicine, Integrative Medicine,Internal Medicine, Medical Research, Natural Healing, etc. But I like your response.πŸ‘

You are right that Wikipedia is not a scientific journal but the references are there to check, 31 in the case of citric acid. It is a simplified forum that is easier for lay people to understand. I am not offering a "point of view", I am trying to prevent people, you and other readers, being misled by con artists. The facts about acids and alkalis and how they interact in biology are not a matter of opinion or belief. If you do have knowledge of biology, physiology, pathology and biochemistry then you would know this.

This raises the question "why are you pedalling these false ideas?" Are you selling this stuff? If someone says something that is not true there are a number of possibilities. If they didn't know it was not true then if they had no way of knowing it could be a mistake. If they should have known they could be negligent. If they did know it was untrue then it is a lie. The people who have sold you this rubbish about alkaline water are liars. You need to consider where you fall on this spectrum. Be careful.

Depending on where you live, municipal water is fairly clean. Most organic compounds in the water can be removed simply with activated charcoal filters that you can buy. If you want extremely pure water, then you can always drink distilled water, also readily available in grocery stores. However I don't see the point, when you cannot similarly clean the food you eat, nor the air you breathe. I would only advocate buying bottled water if you live in an area where the water supply is known to be of poor quality, usually with heavy metals, or sometimes with industrial chemicals that have contaminated well water.

I tested the water in my house. I live in Florida, and even with the report from the Water Management Facility being all good, the transportation of water underground are not so safe or clean amd the pipes are not so well inspected or renovated. My water was bad and now is so good taste and light. My hair and skin are better and inside the body for sure I am preventing ingestion of heavy metal, and other chemicals. Destilled water are not health either because we need trace minerals for proper body function. And I saw other friends doing the same, installed full house water cleaning system. Florida is the worse water in the US, I guess. The soil has high porosity and South Florida does not have good source of water either.
