Hi all. I'm here to share, commiserate, and exchange knowledge on skin.
As I age there have been a lot of changes to my skin. In my teens I was fortunate to have beautiful skin. Now, in my 50s I'm dealing with acne. That's just not right. There are enough things going on with my body, I don't need that.
However, that's the least of my worries. I have fibromyalgia which has brought all kinds of fun stuff. In addition, there are skin challenges with diabetes2, arthritis, stage 3 ckd, and a big honking growth on my face that is skin cancer (most likely basal cell carcinoma). Woo hoo. I call the deformity Joseph Merrick. I'd like to introduce you...

Oh my beauty you certainly have a lot to manage going on and you are right you don't need all this happening to you but I love that you are sharing here as you are among friends who have skin issues both common and weird. The good news is that basal cell carcinomas can be removed relatively simply in the grand scheme of things. I reckon my Dad had 3 removed over about 10 years.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. The more I talk to people the less anxious I feel. At this point I am dreading having to sit in the waiting room between slices. I hate waiting. 😏
It is bcc and I am scheduled for Mohs surgery in two months. I'm relieved but still stressed because I have so much to deal with beyond this. I'm just doing the best I can do each day. I may not have control over this stuff but I can control my reactions, outlook, and attitude. I will be ok. 🕉️
