I've always had super dry skin, mostly on my legs. Just means I have to moisturise every single day, although sometimes that isnt enough. If I have my legs out they get dry over the day and they look a bit dusty/flaky.
My legs started doing this thing where they look scaly (maybe a couple if weeks ago). And no matter how much I exfoliate or moisturise it doesn't go away (I make sure I dont over-exfoliate). I use palmer's to moisturise as its lovely and thick.
About a week ago my right hand looked almost scaly. Mainly on my finger tips.
A few days ago they started flaking. I apply a body shop hand cream multiple times a day. I'm also obsessed with my cuticle so apply oil lots too and always have. They're always dry but this isn't normal for me.
I did once have bad eczema when I was stressed, this was a few years ago when I was a student. I had creams and it was only on my inner elbows. It was very red and itchy so this is different. I havent been back since.
Is it maybe linked?
Please let me know if you can help at all or have any experience. I'll also enquire with my doctor if I cant figure it out. I'm going to buy cetaphil today to see if that can help.

Do you take the contraceptive pill bc estrogen in the contraceptive pill can have a bad impact on the immune system - estrogen can promote allergies - although low estrogen can worsen asthma
You may benefit from supplementing with DHEA I have 15mg a day, DHEA Helps with dry skin and some claim it helped with eczema. Cortisol is important for allergies and inflammation so it would be good to get your cortisol levels checked - meat contains cortisol.
As I said earlier your immune system is overactive and you need to dampen it down I recently tried CBD oil and whilst it does calm down the immune system it has horrible side effects for me it made me want to jump off a cliff lol plus I had no appetite I have smoked hash in my time and it never had that effect om me I may smoke it again in the future if my immune system plays up it's good to know that it is an option but I could never have CBD oil ever again
I have found that taking GABA and bicarbonate of soda every 4 hrs or after an allergic response really works on the immune system I have half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda with half a teaspoon of GABA in powder form which is 1000mg mixed with water
As for moisturisers I can swear by Vaseline intensive care for body - it sez on the label that it can heal very dry skin in 5 days and it is as good as it's word it is a great barrier and Lancomes Nutrix is best ever for your face

You also may want to have your thyroid hormone levels checked. Sufficient levels of thyroid hormone are required for skin health and repair. When levels are too low the skin cell cycle of maturation, death, and sloughing off is impaired. Hence, you are left with an over accumulation of the dead cells (which have to be manually exfoliated). And even though you continually slather on the oils and moisturizers, they don't make any appreciable difference. Low thyroid can wreak havoc on the skin (particularly the hands, feet, and lower legs).
Hormones run the show when it comes to the health and appearance of your hair, skin and nails. Replete nutrient levels are also important. But, nutrients alone can't tackle the problem. A balance of thyroid and sex hormones [DHEA, Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone] is key.
If your doctor won't order the test panels (thyroid, sex hormone), then you can order them yourself (at your own expense) from Blue Horizon, et al. If you decide to go this route, I advise going to the thyroid forum for info on testing and results.
