Palmoplanter Keratodermia

hello everyone , I'm a 14 year old girl and I have palmoplanter keratodermia. the regular person has 3 layers of skin and as far as I know , i have 7. I've been avoiding the dermatologist because I'm deathly afraid. my mom told me when I was younger I got a lot of treatments but now that I'm older , she wants to take me back. lately it's been really hard to even stand on my feet. I try to remove some excess skin but it's verrryy painful. I'm not here for you to sympathize me but I just wanna know that I'm not the only one out here and I'm desperate for anything to help me.

Sweetie, Your mum could be wrong. You may have misunderstood your condition.

Please, please go to a dermatologist. You may hear some good news or at least an understanding of your condition. Knowledge is power. Don't be afraid,be strong. When you face your fear you,ll feel a lot better. I promise.

Like Olive May I am urging you to visit a dermatologist to get help but also have a look and see if you can find a specific forum on line for palmoplanter keratodermia as I am sure you are not alone with this skin condition. Good luck with finding help xx

Please be very careful in trying to treat yourself, removing the layers could make things worse, however uncomfortable you are I would hate for you to feel even worse or even more pain by it becoming infected !

The other guys here are right, sometimes when we fear something we can build it up into something so massive and in reality it isn't at all! At 14 the dermatologist will work with you, they WONT force anything on you that you don't want but you may be able to get a clearer idea of what treatments they can offer you and I'm sure you will feel so much better about it all after you've been! Also I don't know if your aware of this but it is very much a fact that our worries and fears can make our conditions worse!!

Please see a dermatologist and then come back and tell us how you got on!
