Hi gran60662,

I have no idea what this could be. You really need to speak with your doctor to find out what condition you have. For now, here's some general information on insect bites: dermnetnz.org/arthropods/bi...

All the best,

Shell.

It has taken me a year to get a proper diagnosis for this. The insects can't know to bite you in the same place! The first GP said exactly what yours did. The second said, I haven't the faintest idea, but did not make a referral. The third was 'certain' it was a fungal infection and resisted strongly when I asked for a referral. The consultant dermatologist diagnosed a virus infection - viruses will strike at a previously infected site - and gave me an anti-viral called Acyclovir. Insist on a referral. Skin complaints are difficult to diagnose and most GPs are not able to make a diagnosis for them.

Isn't this a cold sore cream?

Yes, it's an antiviral treatment for a number of different viral infections, including cold sores.
