Your prescriber can refer you to a place that does it if it’s not done where they work. It isn’t a DNA test for medication though but rather a test that looks at how you metabolize medication. It specifically looks at the enzymes involved in the metabolism process. The test doesn’t indicate that one medication is better than another for you but rather how your enzymes breaks down categories of medications. The test is not recommended for most people because most people don’t benefit from it. About 20% of people may differ from the average in how they metabolize medication.
