They need to be resisted, not satisfied! CBT helps to teach you resistance.

maybe your question is about what to do instead of some thing harmful. Well, the current popular answer is around mindfulness training. Which is actually centuries-old. When we are anxious, we are all up in our head. Your body is your greatest resource. But even if you go out and sit in nature, if you let your thoughts run around, it won’t help. You have to learn that you can’t be problem-solving or imagining future scenarios at all times. It’s a lot easier to do this when you are well rested. The other main thing for OCD, and about everything else, is to have a community. It’s almost impossible to be healthy without a supportive community. Good thing you’re here! Keep reaching out.

Try to delay responding to your urges. For example, if you have an urge to double check something one more time, say to yourself, "Okay, I'll check one more time, but in 10 minutes, not now." That will help you gradually build up your resistance muscles 😊

Thanks, I should try that more often. With me it also depends on how strong the urge is.

I found if you act on an urge it gets you deeper into it.
