OCD relating to every object being diabolical (charm).

I have had various OCD experiences relating to contamination, stealing, religion, cleanliness which I have overcome.

However, intrusive thoughts about seeing objects (making it diabolical, charm which might cause harm) like nails on the any surface or padlock or any stuff hanged anywhere or on the ground without knowing what it is, is my biggest trigger which I have been seriously struggling with.

For example, when I went out 2 days ago with my children along Newark, while in the bus looking sideways saw one blue nylon on one of the branches of the tree in the forest, then the intrusive thoughts kicked in saying it might be diabolical sitting on the tree which might be causing harm to someone, compulsion (seeing that the nylon has been removed or checking that it can not cause harm).

Because of this, I avoid going out most of the time or go on social media as much as I can.

Anyone having this experience?

How should I deal with this?

I don’t know if it’s the same thing, but when I used to go for my walk around the neighborhood, I would pass a section of sidewalk that has a circular crack in it. Whenever I saw the crack, I would be overwhelmed with “diabolical” thoughts about it. It was overwhelming and scary. Later in the walk, I would pass the corner of a building, and if I didn’t consciously pray and think back on the circular crack from earlier in the walk, it meant that I was damned, which amped up anxiety. This lasted for about a year, but it has eased up now.

Waoh please how did it ease up? Any technique used?

Mine began 10years ago and it has not eased up yet. I virtually have diabolical thought for every object or checking holes

I am using ACT, mindfulness and meditation, which has helped. The doctor also upped my Seroquel to 500 mg a day. Even so, I still have “blasphemous” thoughts that can unnerve me. Best wishes to you! I know it’s tough.

Waoh! I am just making an attempt to reach out to a therapist.

I hope it doesn't lead to stigmatisation and deprivation in UK (mental illness like this)?

I’m in the US, so I’m not familiar with mental health in the UK. Here in the US, it’s not so great if you don’t have the money for private care. I see a therapist about once a month and I see my psychiatrist about once a year, though I can email them both when I need to. I also take advantage of various resources that are offered in my county.

It’s good to hear that you’re attempting to reach out to a therapist. I found it very helpful. Hopefully you do, too. And keep posting on this site for continued support. It’s good to know you’re not alone.
