I'm afraid that SSRI antidepressants take about 4 to 6 weeks before they start making you feel better. Before that they may make you feel worse. If they don't make you feel better over the next couple of weeks, then get onto your doctor straightaway.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with your doctor or go to the hospital if you are feeling really bad in the meanwhile.

Medication doesn't suit all patients, though it can be a huge help to many. They may help you if you can put up with feeling like this a couple more weeks. But don't, I repeat don't, hesitate to get professional help if you need it.

Hey Finno, if you’re in crisis please reach out to your prescribing doctor or seek help from your nearest medical facility.

Medication can take time to work, but you should not have to suffer until it does.
