Hey guys, I'm 18 years old and I've been diagnosed with OCD for over a year. Since the pandemic and the lockdown has started, I've been at home and went months without sleeping properly and eating properly. NOTE - this is before I had any problems. I've to say that after about 4-5 months of lack of sleep and change in circadian rhythm I've started to have intrusive thoughts and compulsions. This is when my first episode started and I had to visit a psychiatrist who urged me to take medications(SSRI). My symptoms surprisingly reduced in over two months and I've had a pretty good year without any problems and very less anxiety. Now after a year I might've messed up my sleep schedule due to other medical problems and it again triggered my ocd with other problems. I've read in articles that OCD stays w your from birth but I see my symptoms going away throught proper sleep and ERP. My questions is, is sleep deprivation the trigger for my OCD and do I have anything like temporary OCD and depression?

I just saw your post and figured I'd reply since I had a post about OCD and sleep as well.
In my case I've had OCD since I was very young and it has waxed and waned over time. Sometimes I would be a lot better and mostly symptom free. However, it seems to get worse in times of stress though and I don't think that's uncommon. At least for me medication has helped as well as ERP.
I'm very sorry to hear you're going through medical issues right now and that you're under a lot of stress. I pray that you find some peace and health in the future friend.
