I've had similar issues all of my life. It's just one of the many faces of OCD; most likely Pure O and / or Scrupulosity. Have you seen a therapist and been diagnosed?

Ya, I was diagnosed with OCD, PTSD, GAD, and Depression a couple years ago.

On my way to work but a very short answer for a very long explaination is focus. Most of the time it seems that when we (with OCD) make a quick glance or have a quick thought about something it doesn't seem to register. By slowing down the thought process and focusing on the immediate task, thought, etc, it seems to help register the thought better.

I'm not sure how to search for my previous posts but I have commented on some of these issues before if you can find them.

ERP was super helpful in reducing (if not quite eliminating) my overanalytical tendencies. You learn how to shrug your shoulders and move on; it's not innate for some of us!
