Possible stomach cancer

I'm currently in Moscow seeking treatment for atrial fibrillation. (you'd wait forever on the NHS, private is cheaper here and I have some experience of the country.) Anyway they're nothing if not thorough here, a legacy from communist times, and carried out a gastroscopy, found an ulcer and said it might be cancerous. When pressed they said 50 / 50 it's cancerous. They promised results next week. If it is cancer it must be early stage because I've experienced no symptoms. I don't think they are particularly into softening bad news here and suspect they overstate the chance. I'm going to have a good time whilst I wait for the result but if anyone has anything useful to say on the chances and the outlook if it is positive. Maybe early stage stomach cancer isn't that bad which is why they were matter-of-fact about it. Thanks in advance for any replies
