Funeral Plans

Hi, sorry to be morbid, but we have to think about these things - we are thinking of buying a funeral plan ahead of time and are wondering if others have experience of this? particularly keen to know of any pitfalls we should avoid and would welcome any advice. Don't know if anyone out there has any recommendations in the Tiverton/Wellington area? Thanks in advance

Hello,

It's a good idea and we were thinking the same but a bit apprehensive after seeing this on the BBC news this morning.

Based on what I have seen and read about I would definitely recommend speaking to your local, independent funeral director. There are big firms out there who are able to afford lots of advertising but don't give the best service. An independent funeral director should have a price list on their website to enable to make an informed decision.

We're going to do the same!

thanks for your reply. one thing I'm anxious about though is my husband is now in a nursing home and I'm worried this might be regarded as a deliberate reduction of assets? any thoughts?

Thanks Derkie, I think there is now a regulating body in place that will stop this happening if the funeral firm have signed up to it. cant remember the initials of the regulating body, but if you read the BBC news article fully I think its mentioned there

Hello,

My friend and I did this. It was a blessing, it took a lot of pressure off me when the time came. We used Co-op , so a well known and established company. Maggie chose her own music.

I hope this helps with your decision.

Caroline.
