Care Chair

My husband is now completely immobile and his pressure areas are very fragile. He has a powered alternating air cushion in a tilt in space chair provided by the OT. He is in a nursing home at the moment and I need to self fund another chair for when he visits at home because the wheelchair isn’t comfortable enough for long periods.

I have done hundreds of google searches to try and find the ideal chair. It needs to be extra supportive, marshmallow soft with an electric alternating pressure cushion. Able to fully recline, but doesn’t need to rise as he is fully hoisted. Does anyone know of such a thing? I can’t find what he needs!

hi calebsmum

I found the local occupational health a good point for info

Even if they can’t provide the equipment I found ours had a great knowledge base and full of good ideas ( even tho they can’t deliver any of it )

Hello,

My wife is at home, but like your husband she is completely immobile. We have similar issues and have not found a suitable chair that is comfortable for long periods, I hope there is something out there for you.

It may not be what you want but our solution was to put a profiling bed with an airflow mattress and pump in our lounge. My wife stays in the wheelchair when we've been out and when she's tired or uncomfortable she can then be hoisted into the bed.

We still have a chair but she prefers the wheelchair and bed combination.

Take care.

Derek
