CATHETER CHANGE

So I have had an indwelling (urethral) catheter for nearly 14 months now. Of course it has to be chSanged regularly and this is done by the district nurses. Anyway one of the DNs is, I think, well suited for an alternative occupation because when she removes the old catheter it is with the speed and strength of a lumberjack on the pull cord starter of a 16 inch chainsqaw.?

Are any of the people you know suited for an alternative career to the one they chose ?

Aaaargh!!My husband has a catheter as well, and being a naturally reserved man,the added embarrassment of the changing of the catheter has been a string of first year students being present at the procedure…Recently for no discernible reason he had bladder stones, and had to have 5 catheter changes in 4 days.We are preparing a possible film script “ Indiana Mack and the curse of the catheter”

( should resonate with a certain generation….)”

It's like you were in the room, Sue, as the wife did indeed remind me she had 3 daughters "naturally".

Reminds me of when I was recovering in hospital after an operation. I had stitches in the stomach and found it painful to laugh. I was laid in bed and having a conversion with three other gents who were sat on chairs, all of which had catheters fitted. The nurse appeared, called out the name of one of these gents to come and get his medication, to which he stood up and moved towards her, pulling his catheter right out, as it had been caught around the chair leg. I cannot describe the volume of the scream, it was heard right across the whole level of the ward, medical staff came from everywhere and quickly sorted him out. The rest of us just laughed out so loud that we were all in pain, the more hurt, the more it caused me to laugh. I was rupturing my stitches, but couldn't stop it. That will teach me, said the nurse, but I'll never forget it.
