In the hope it may help someone

I have learned quite a lot over the last 3 years and thought it may help someone . I know some family members already will know and practise some of my suggestions . I take my husbands BPM , Temperature , and Oxygen levels daily and record them . Occasionally I do Blood Pressure . I keep a close eye on urine output . Amount , colour and for blood and encourage 2litres of fluid a day , this is always achieved or very close to , due to my nagging ! Having asked a number of Health care professionals about the mucus on his chest and his inability to clear , and my concern about this causing chest infections and getting nowhere , finally I got Carbocisteine prescribed . This helps break down mucus and is naturally absorbed into the body . When a catheter change is due I get Co - Amoxiclav prescribed 4 days before to continue 3 days after and he also has 1 sachet of Monuril 12 hours before the appointment . This has worked twice out of 3 catheter changes .

Yes that’s right as we can end up in hospital within 24hrs if Richard has an infection .
