We had our virtual DST meeting for Continuing Care Funding today and in spite of numerous medical professionals telling us we wouldn’t get it we were successful. Our advice is ..... don’t listen to anyone when they say you won’t get it. Go for it. Do your research. Do a 24 hour diary of everything that you do as carer and the length of time devoted to each task. Get as many medical professionals as possible to send in reports (Neurologists. MSA Trust, SALT. Community Nursing, OT etc. ). Report everything per domain as indicate in the DST documentation, Be honest but give worse case scenario. Good Luck!!

Congratulations! That will be such a relief to you. Good advice also for those applying for this. We obtained it for my dad but it was a long and grueling process. We prepared for it and got reports from medical professionals which really helped. Good luck to all those going through the process.
... and congratulations to you too! It's heartwarming to hear this. National Insurance is paid for a reason... Sending best wishes.
Congratulations matie1, what a triumph. I have been through this too; 2 weeks ago to be precise. It was gruelling and you are so right in everything you state. We succeeded too and the process was exhausting but one cannot underestimate the value of research: A deep dive into research is probably how best I can describe my experience! From understanding the NHS Act, Care Act and the DST i feel that I could write my own book on it. My contribution to this forum is that if anyone wants guidance, please let me know. I will be happy to signpost anyone who is considering this. The NHS has a duty to promote NHS-CHC but still not many people know or understand it. Social Care is a hot topic at the moment too....
Thank you all for your kind comments. I appreciate your support.
