Hi Freda, lovely to hear from you. I was wondering where you had gone! I hope you manage to get the posts soon. In the meantime, I hope your sale went through OK? Our house sale fell through unfortunately, so we are back looking.

Wishing you a good Christmas and healthy and happy New Year.

Oh no, I am so sorry. There seems to be a lot of it around. I think it's time another system similar to the one they have in Scotland is adopted. I hope you find an alternative soon.

I found another property very quickly. A cottage in David's village and if this one is sucessful it will be even better so do not despair.

When I moved in with David a year ago I intended to let my house as a backstop. The first lockdown convincd me that long distance letting was a bad idea and I decided to stop getting the house ready for letting and get it ready for selling instead so it has been a long business.

Another last minute delay . We need a better system. Victor worked hard all his life to make sure we had a good home and a reasonable retirement together but that did not happen.

Apart from not liking the idea of depending on the goodwill of David's daughters for somewhere to live if anything happens to him I feel I owe it to Victor not to undo his work . So I thought hard about what to do and decided to buy a suitable house for me in my later old age if I need it. I had several options, one of which was a house in the next village which has good facilities `Then we went to Wadebridge which is about twenty minutes away and saw a lovely flat alongside the river and decided to buy it and use it for a holiday home until we got too old or bored. With the extra bonus of being a quarantine place for our daughters when they are allowed to come to England to visit us one day. and a low contact place for my Hertfordshire friends so they can stay and go walking and we can meet them outdoors which is safer. Perfect.

Then the buyer backed out at the last minute wanting us to delay the purchase until he could drive to his new home in Spain, whenever that might be, and pay an extra £10 thousand on the price.

NOPE. Met these people before when they have conned friends in the past. They come back for more a few days before completion when it is cheaper to pay them than to back out. They do like to prey on what they see as vulnerable old ladies, preferably ones with no large sons or fierce daughters living nearby. So it is fingers crossed time

In the mean time I have suddenly got my first post from Healthunlocked for weeks so I shall be getting my computer looked at by the person who is helping me to transfer myself from Hertfordshire to Cornwall without creating havoc.

What a stressful business this is Freda. We lost a house sale a few months ago due to the delays caused by the Corinavirus and have our house back on the market. We lost the house we had set our hearts on and so we are back looking. We have had numerous people viewing our house and I feel like I am living in a show home, constantly having to hoover and clean. Nothing new is coming on the market whsre we want to move to so it's back to the drawing board.

I wish you every success with your move and I hope you enjoy your new area. It's a big thing to move areas where you have established yourself. However, sometimes it is the right time to move on and discover new friends and experiences.

I am so pleased you are back Freda, I love reading your posts.

Warmest wishes

such a nice post. Thats very kind of you

I will tell you about the new house when and if it all goes through. There is a story behind it.

House moving can bring out the worst in some people just as caring seems to bring out the best. Ideally a house does not exist until the money is in the bank but you have to fall in love with it if you are going to buy it

Fingers crossed We went out toay to order our christmas tree. We are both looking forward to it. I had set my heart on using my lights like little red berries and did not realise that David had set his heart on lots of tiny white lights. never mind we are grown ups now and managed a compromise which makes us both happy

Hi Freda, I will look forward to your updates. So pleased to hear that you are looking forward to Christmas. Funnily enough, I had a very similar discussion with my husband over lights! We too have come up with a compromise to suit us both.

I hope you both have a lovely Christmas.

Sorry to hear you’ve lost your list of groups, it should be there once you log on. Good luck with that.

I look forward to hearing your news,

Take care, Ian x
