Hi all, I was diagnosed with PD Jan16 and re-diagnosed with MSA Apr18. I am not that confident about meeting groups but have just found this forum, which I am far more comfortable using. I've got loads of questions, I'd like to ask. But I'll keep it to one. Does anyone struggle to turn over in bed , if so have does anyone have any tips on turning/rolling over? Many thanks.

Ozmarlz.

Hello Ozmarlz

I am delighted that you feel okay to join this forum, I am certain you will find it to be very supportive. Sorry, as always, that you need to be here however.

When my wife Jackie first had issues turning in bed our local OT support team fitted a grab rail that is supported from under the mattress. Jax used this to pull her self over or to sit up. I have to say as things have progressed she now needs my help to turn in bed.

I am sure others will have ideas of things that worked for them.

Take care, Ian

We were really fortunate to get some fantastic sheets provided by our OT and we used a base sheet when Geoff first struggled to turn over and then used it with the top sheet when I needed to do it for him. I don’t think all areas supply them but they are Imedia by ETAC satin slide sheets and they stay on the bed all the time. They stopped me needing 2 carers coming in.

Hi Diane831,

that sounds very promising, thank you so much.

Hello Ozmarlz

Yes, try satin or silk sheets. They are available in department stores if you can't get them through the OT.

The grab rail Yanno refers to is often called a bed lever.

This forum is a great resource so don't hold back from asking all your other questions! You are not alone!
