🐝 🐝 Birds and bees 🐝 🐝 and just a little about bums and bladders!

At the Three Counties, we had an interesting support group this week - we talked for some time about birds and bees. It turns out that one of our carer members is a bee keeper of some distinction. Fascinating that his bees go on holiday each year to live off heather for a couple of months. That led us on to talking about holidays, finding the right adapted holiday accommodation and the inevitable bums and bladders whilst travelling.

Jill Lyons, MSA support nurse gave us an update on all things MSA Trust and of course we had the usual chatter over cake, coffee & tea.

Anyone who lives in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire & Herefordshire (or within a striking distance thereof), and have an interest in MSA, is very welcome at our meetings held every third month. Next meeting Tuesday 26th November at Tewkesbury, save the date!

Hi Ian, thank you for the update about your meeting. It sounds as if you had a good time. Holidays are on our mind at the moment and it is hard finding suitable places to go that provide all of the equipment needed. We are taking dad out for short trips now as we have just purchased an adapted vehicle for dad that fits a wheelchair. He needs two carers to transfer with a stand aid so it makes it a bit tricky to go away. There are various attractions near to where they live so at least he can get out for a couple of hours

I hope that you are both well.

With love

Helen

Hi Helen, Paul & Sue talked at the meeting about a holiday company that he has heard of that offers holiday including care support. Paul follows these posts and so may respond with details, if not I will contact him direct...Paul??

Ian

I have recently came across 2 specialists

disabledaccessholidays.com

Based in Glasgow but have a great range of UK and Europe accomodation at various levels of support.

They also do disability equipment hire delivered to the accomodation.

enableholidays.com

Based in Birmingham who have UK and Europe destinations with all types of support provided including on site carers.

My tip is ask about every accommodation to ensure it meets all your needs including the disabled and your own.

They may not be cheap but you can get the suppory
