I have PV and Budd Chiari with an epidemic of me... - MPN Voice
I have PV and Budd Chiari with an epidemic of measles near whete i live, should I get vaccinated against it? I was born in 1973 if that help
I 'had' Budd Chiari which was secondary to ET, not PV. A Liver transplant has, I hope, prevented its return ( first diagnosed 1998 ). Just thought i'd get in touch for that reason, as I was never aware of anyone else who had it before I came across this site last year.
As far as measles vac, you need to discuss the benefits as opposed to the risks with a GP if not a specialist medic.

Hi, I have PV and had measles as a youngster so it's not a problem for me, but my daughter was also born in 1973 and was immunized with the single dose Measles vaccine at age one year. MMR was not available at that time. So, providing you were given all the usual childhood immunisations you should be protected already.
I still have her 'Baby Book' with all her medical info but was also a health visitor for 24 years so am sure this info is correct. Do discuss with your haematologist as well, just to be sure! All the best, Rosemary.
Hope you get a satisfactory response. Are you able to find out if you had the routine childhood immunisations? I think most children born in 1973 were given the Measles vaccine, the one causing controversy at that time was the pertussis part of the triple vaccine and many parents opted out of that because there was little advice available at the time. Do let me know how you get on. Best wishes, Rosemary.
Hello Damon,
The epidemic here will get worse when schools reopen tomorrow, so follow all the good advice you have had and contact your Consultant. My childen a few years older than you were all given the Measles vaccine almost routinely back then . Bye
Hi I mansged to find out thdt i had been immunised as a child agaunst measles but i still spoke to my consultant and he said that I am safe as measles vacs cover you for life!! So no worries!!! Phewwwww
