Hello everyone i'm so exhausted all the time, and can be watching a movie and be fast off not seeing much of it. Does everyone feel this way that even keeing your eyes open is a challenge, my eyes go cloudy too which doesn't help and well we know about brain fog. I have to visited the gp as I sent him a message about my bleeding from my back passage, it's not regular maybe once a month or so. but this time there was a small clot on the tissue and blood in the toilet, I called my wife so at least she could see and explain it better to the gp. He wants me to have blood tests and a sample done, but i've had these done before and they've found nothing untowards. I also taste blood every morning when I wake up too, no nose bleed or anything like that it's just the back of my throat. Could I ask does any of you have the same or is it just me, I have spoken to the cancer nurse when she called me and she said the throat thing was probably the aspirin. I would really appreciate your input please as my wife worries so much, kind regards

Bleeding

There are several possibilities that come to mind with what you are describing. The answer to your question would require a more thorough assessment. Ruling out Acquired von Willebrand Disease would be indicated. One of the first the first steps would be to check PT/INR and run a von Willebrand panel. Note that people with thrombocytosis can experience increase hemorrhage even in the absence of AcqvWBD. This used to happen to me, particularly when by PLTs were near 800.
It is worth noting that oral irritation and GI bleeding is a risk of aspirin. This would also need to be properly assessed. It may also require assessment by a gastroenterologist.
The thing not to do is ignore this issue or have it fobbed off. Advocate for a clear answer and resolution of the problem.
ALl the best.
Hi Hunter5582 thank you for your reply, I will speak to my gp about getting or ruling out von willebrand. I'm so tired these days it's hard for me to concentrate, but i really appreciate your helpfulness and guidance with what to check. I rely on my wife alot these days as what goes in one ear quickly shoots out the other, so i've also got her to read your reply for me as she writes everything down for the gp. And i'm just looking into aspirin as i didn't realise you could get Enteric- coated, this sounds like something I should be on. Kind regards
Enteric aspirin is generally considered safer than the uncoated type. Definitely look into the enteric low dose aspirin. You may also want to have your iron levels checked if there has been consistent bleeding. If there is enough bleeding you can become iron deficient. Memory loss is one of the symptoms of iron deficiency along with brain fog, mental fatigue and more.
Glad to hear you have a supportive spouse. It is great to have an advocate in your corner.
have you had all your vitamin/ minerals/ thyroid levels checked? Deficiencies can also give similar problems. Get them checked before taking any supplements so you don’t skew the results, but do it soon.
If gp not obliging do a home test.
All the best
Perhaps take the enteric coated low dose aspirin
Ruxolitinib can cause bleeding from rectum and other orifices. Not sure what meds you are taking, but check them out. Blood thinners are tricky too.
Do you get to see your blood test results? If not ask for printouts. Your bleeds could be due to high or low platelet counts, aspirin, blood pressure too high in or around your oesophagus. You would ideally need a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. My wife bleeds a lot and has them often, but they never really find the source. It's less often and not so serious since changing over to Jakafi, from Anagrelide and hydroxycarbamide.
bonnieL, water drink as much as possible. Flush your body it keeps everything passing through. You will feel better and gain energy by removing the treatment from your system. Good luck
Hi I was also on aspirin, which didn’t agree with my my Heamotology doctor changed then to Clopidogrel. This might be an option for you to as your doctor about. Wishing you well and hope you manage to get sorted soon
